I tend to be a very nervous and anxious person. I've struggled for sometime to find purpose, especially recently. I've only been listening to this for the past couple of days in the morning before work and I already notice a shift in my outlook on life. Meditations, next to Letters From A Stoic by Seneca, Epictetus' Art of Living and various works of Cicero fundamentally changed my life. Stoicism makes so much sense to me. It's a daily exercise. The voice work brings this to life! Masterfully done.

My father gave me this book my freshman year of high school. Since then I have read this book many times. Especially, times in my life when I felt like my life was out of balance or not in control. This book was very valuable during my deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. The things that I saw and carried out were put into a great perspective and the wisdom taken from those times!

I have to thank you for this and your summary of the Meditations. Back in August, I began looking into stoicism, and listening to this video at work convinced me to adopt the philosophy into my life. Shortly after, in the span of 2 weeks, I had to put my cat to sleep, and my grandma died the day before she was scheduled to start chemotherapy 10 miles away. I was closer to my grandma than anybody besides my dad, and that cat was the closest thing I've had to a child. In my younger years, I probably would've spiraled into depression. But I've kept in mind the words, "To bear this worthily is good fortune." I was devastated by losing them, but that's the cost of making connections that make life worth living. Everything seems so clear now; becoming the best person I can be is the only thing that matters, and that's all that I'll ever allow myself to worry about again.

In the two, three years of listening to this book, on - off, it's been a grounding space for me especially after difficult periods in my life. After because during challenging moments I'm usually too deep in the pits to listen to any logic. I'm very grateful for it. I love philosophy and discovering this has been a godsend. To think that he was an emperor and a warrior most of his life and he literally spent his life facing death and betrayal and still had this mentality to basically say, don't worry so much about life, just do your best and accept that which comes - that's amazing. Amazing because in the modern world , we barely face survival struggles like they did back then. At best, it's your partner betraying you or your boss upsetting you, at worst it's death or sickness of a beloved; and yes they try us. His words really put things in perspective for me. I love many lessons in here. I love when he advises to quit praying for things but to simply be grateful of what you have and pray to be content with that; or when he says, it doesn't matter whether fearful of death or complaining of life or proud of your achievements, we will all be forgotten by the next century; the best you can do is be nice and do your best. I listen to it during my morning drives to work and I've been re-listening over time. Very poignant lessons. Grateful for this and for the audio reader . Thanks

I know this is just a YouTube comment and it seems silly for me to comment this, but for me these meditations have helped me so much. I would say it’s hard to be stoic or to live stoically, but what is my simple life compared to what he faced. Yet I still find myself struggling at times to try and live by many of these principles. I strive on because there is but one way to go ever forward.

This is at a real nice pace and easier to follow, since his works require pauses and reflection to ponder his words, well, at least for me. I like how his opening works are recognitions to his previous teachers and the knowledge they passed on to him, life lessons and acknowledgment of others It was excellent he took counsel and input from those around him. Maximus had some good teaching and word for the Emperor in Book 1, 15. I enjoy the ruins and stoneworks of once great palaces or theaters in the video. Many thanks!

If only I could have found "Meditations" sooner... I came to Marcus Aurelius and stoicism through my interest in history. I would come across quotes that rang true in my heart like perfectly tuned bell 🔔

I'm grateful it didn't take me another 40 years before I stumbled into the wisdom in Meditations.

I'm 22 with depression and a long-term medical issue that has trapped me in a shitty body. I've lived with suffering for the past few months and I need to feel at peace with it otherwise I'll go crazy before I reach the end of it. Im only onto book 2 and already this gives me relaxing vibes. It's so simple and so much of what he says is true. I feel like a kid listening to his dad give short, simple life lessons that will stick with me for the rest of my life. If only it had worked out that way.

Thank you for this timeless collection of profound insights, delivered to me nearly 2000 years after written. It's simply incredible that so much of what he was trying to learn has such value after so much time has passed. It's as though the words were written yesterday. This tells me something sobering about human nature; we have changed in so many ways, yet remain confronted and often imprisoned by the same internal struggles faced by our distant ancestors.

Im on a pursuit of happiness. Im now learning the art of stoicism and other kinds of arts/teachings to find inner peace. While im on it, i realised that there will always be yin and yang in this world. There will always be two sides of the same coin. I learnt that humans is a hero in their story be it good or bad. Dying is inevitable but living is a choice. Humans have a mind of their own and its formed by how they were taught, raised, heard, see and experience. Everybody is I and I am everybody, just different way of life of me. Always put myself onto other people shoes and never regard my self as a higher being. Always listen not hear. There always a lesson to be learnt. Be open minded and aware of my own doings as it will have an impact in myself and others. My thoughts become my words, my words become my actions, my actions become my habit, my habit becomes my attitude, my attitude becomes my future. I learnt that sometimes to have something good, it needs to be done by evil actions. The world is both fcuked up and beautiful. We are being fed by temporary happiness that it makes us forget about how strong, intelligent and willing we are. Lastly, i realised that if i can't change myself... What makes me think i can change an individual or the world.

I hope everyone is having a good day or night and to always use the time wisely. Stop having the mindset "Oh, i can just do it later", it will never happen. Time is going forward faster than you might think. We live in an illusion where the word "Present" is something to be taken lightly. Past can be a day ago, a week ago, a year ago while the Future can be a day later, a week later, a year later but the Present is just a second which is NOW and it has just passed.
