Says Paul Berryman of the name: "It was basically just a piss-take on commonly used words in the 90's. Like The Jesus and Mary Chain, 'Jesus Built My Hot Rod', Jesus Lizard, Jesus Jones; there's just heaps of Jesus' out there in the music world so we thought we would have that and super was kind of like a 90s catch word."
The group's debut EP, "Eight Step Rail", was released in May 1996 and spent a couple of months on top of the Australian Independent charts and won a couple of ARIA awards.
All has not always well with the band internally and in 1997 Chris Tennent temporarily left the band. Aaron Tokona from Wellington, New Zealand band Weta filled in, though chose to turn down the band's offer to become a permanent member.
They released their debut album, Sumo, through Warner Music in 1998 and its success in Australia led to a US release. The band has released two subsequent albums, Jet Age, in 2001, and Rock Music, in 2003. All albums charted well in Australia.
Chris Tennant left the band permanently in 1999 and was replaced by Tim Henwood (who has since himself left to concentrate on his work with The Androids). Jason Slack (an unofficial member) has since been playing guitars with the band.
In June 2004, the band split with Warner Music Australia and indicated they would take time off while individial members pursued other projects. McLeod is said to be working on a solo album of material not suited to the band. Her solo single released in 2005 is entitled "Let's Get Together", while her album to be released in the same year is called Beauty Was A Tiger.
Recently there has been much controversy over whether the band has split: a number of articles describe McLeod and Berryman as "former" members. Fans continue to speculate over online message boards, some reasoning that the writers of such articles jump to conclusions after seeing each member doing his/her own thing. The band has so far remained silent on this issue, although the band's website has disappeared.
Stick Together

And I'll wait and I'll tell you once again
If you only gave the guidelines, I'd be better off knowing when
I'd be better off knowing when
Burning the candle is all I can handle
We'll save energy if we stick together
Taking you over a shy casanova
I've seen what I'm doing and what I'm doing is best for me
And it's all gotta go before we're done
It's the only kind of opinion that I could give to anyone
I could give to anyone
Burning the candle is all I can handle
We'll save energy if we stick together
Taking you over a shy casanova
We'll save energy if we stick together
Burning the candle is all I can handle
We'll save energy if we stick together
Taking you over a shy casanova
We'll save energy if we stick together
Now
Stick together
Know what you're coming for
No need to tell you no more
A little bit in store keeps us guessing
Know what you're coming for
No need to tell you no more
A little bit in store keeps us guessing
Burning the candle is all I can handle
We'll save energy if we stick together
Taking you over a shy casanova
We'll save energy if we stick together
Burning the candle is all I can handle
We'll save energy if we stick together
Taking you over a shy casanova
We'll save energy if we stick together now
Stick together now
Stick together now
Stick together now
The lyrics of "Stick Together" by The Superjesus convey a message of unity and perseverance. The opening lines set the tone for the rest of the song, with the singer confidently declaring that they know what they're facing, even though their circumstances are unfamiliar to the outside world. They also express a willingness to wait and gather information, as long as they have guidelines to follow.
The chorus of the song speaks to the importance of working together to achieve a common goal. The metaphor of burning a candle serves as a reminder that everyone only has so much energy to give, and on their own, they might not be able to accomplish as much as they would like. However, by sticking together as a group, they can save energy and make progress towards their objectives.
The final verses of the song suggest that there is still much to learn and discover, but the key is to keep moving forward and trusting that the future will reveal itself in good time. Overall, "Stick Together" is a song that emphasizes the importance of staying strong and committed, even in the face of adversity.

I remember when they came and performed on our uni campus in Canberra. Always thought lead was grungy cute. 2017 and she still is!

They'd still together after all these years? That's pretty fucking dope.
The Irresponsibles

Irks me to no end that this wonderful song isn't famous enough in the U.S. to purchase digitally. Nor is the CD available, except as an import. It saddens me that Sarah McLeod has not yet been recognised as much as she should be here for her contributions to rock music.

'mature' may not be the best word to choose, but for this song for sure, this song's beat honestly doesn't really feel so alive to me lol. now, i've recently bought 'Jet Age' and enjoyed it quite a bit. see i'm actually considering doing a video review at least for 'jet age', mainly for that album because it seems to have some of the only tunes from this band that really stick out toward me anybody know like, what kind of significance did this band have? lol i know nothing about aussie
92soothsayer
eeeh, its okay. i expected a bit more rockable, mature after 'gravity.' i'm just now discovering this band. well to be honest right off the bat i'm noticing kinda cliche-sounding words and phrases in the lyrics, that kinda driving me away

Agreed , love me some Sarah ; )
