Nothing More to Me

So keep down on the floor
Keep down on the floor
Tell me how you've been
'Cause we don't talk anymore
We don't talk anymore
And I know it's crazy
There's no time
Let's go
Just listen here instead
Forget about the things they say
There's nothing more to me
There's nothing more to me than what you see
And if we see another day
There's nothing more to me than what you see in me
It's picking up outside
With branches coming down
I've never heard these sounds
The walls won't last tonight
But I will stand my ground
I will stand my ground
Forget about the things they say
There's nothing more to me
There's nothing more to me than what you see
And if we see another day
There's nothing more to me than what you see in me
There's nothing more to me than what you see in me
Don't go outside
You won't make it if you do
There'll be footage of me running after you
But I've got a feeling you're giving it up (Yeah)
You're losing the meaning
You're giving it up (Yeah)
I've got a feeling you're giving it up
Giving it up, giving it up again
Forget about the things they say
There's nothing more to me
There's nothing more to me than what you see
And if we see another day
There's nothing more to me than what you see in me
(There's nothing more to me)
There's nothing more to me than what you see in me
(It's picking up outside)
There's nothing more to me than what you see in me
(A storm is rolling in)
There's nothing more to me than what you see in me
The Swellers's song "Nothing More To Me" is a reflection on the ups and downs of a relationship that has become distant. The first verse sets the tone, with talk of a storm coming in and the need to keep down on the floor. It becomes clear that the storm is a metaphor for the problems and conflicts that have arisen between the couple. They haven't talked in a long time, and the singer acknowledges that it's crazy but urges the other person to listen instead of turning away.
The chorus repeats the phrase "there's nothing more to me than what you see," which can be interpreted in a few different ways. On one hand, it could be the singer confessing that they have nothing left to give in the relationship. But it's equally possible that they're saying that what you see is what you get, and there's nothing hidden or secret about their feelings. The second verse adds to the storm metaphor, with "branches coming down" and walls that "won't last tonight." The singer declares that they will stand their ground, but it's not clear what they're standing for or against.
In the final verse, there's a sense of urgency as the singer urges the other person not to go outside. They're afraid of losing them for good and imagines chasing after them with cameras rolling. It seems like they feel that the relationship is slipping away and there's nothing they can do to stop it. The repetition of "there's nothing more to me" reinforces the idea that they have reached a point of emptiness and exhaustion in the relationship.

Everyone who says that the Swellers are selling out or going mainstream, its music, good music, that's why people listen to it, it may not be as good as old Swellers, but its still them, and they're as good as it gets. ups and downsizing to me sounded just as good as all their other albums and I think this album will be as the same as all the others. Its still good punk music.

Went to see The Blackout, these guys were supporting - had never heard of them before. Nearly 7 years on I haven't heard a Blackout song in years but still listen to The Swellers nearly every day, I'll be telling my kid about that night

I saw them a while back at the AP tour because one of the bands had like a member break a foot or something so they filled in. They were pretty good.
