Warming up

It's dependency every second you're asleep
This bitter night is just a dream
So I'll sleep it off
Will I wake up if I sleep it off
And I wanted to see it coming true
And I wanted to see it
Every day I find a way to make you wait for me
You said, just go inside
It's good to think while you're warming up
I'll still be here when you're warm enough
And I wanted to see it coming true
And I wanted to see things like you do
And I wanted to see it coming true
Cause I'll never be me without you
You're good for me
Yeah, you're good for me
You're good for me
Yeah, you're good for me
You're good for me
You're good for me
You're good for me
You're good for me
And I wanted to see it coming true
And I wanted to see things like you do
And I wanted to see it coming true
Cause I'll never be me without you
No, I'll never be me without you
The Swellers's song "Warming Up" is an introspective and emotional track that touches upon the themes of dependency, love, and self-identity. The opening lines, "Every time I cross the line, it's dependency every second you're asleep" indicate the singer's reliance on their partner's presence and support. The following lines, "This bitter night is just a dream, so I'll sleep it off, will I wake up if I sleep it off" suggest that the singer is struggling with their emotions and is seeking solace in sleep. They feel lost and unsure of themselves, but they hope that things will be better when they wake up.
In the chorus, the singer expresses their desire to see things coming true and to see things from their partner's perspective. They acknowledge the importance of their partner in their life and how they shape the singer's sense of self. The lines, "Cause I'll never be me without you" emphasize how integral the partner is to the singer's identity and highlights the depth of their love for them. The repeated "You're good for me" lines again reinforce the idea of the partner being a positive influence in the singer's life.
Overall, the song is about finding comfort and support in a partner and the realization of how much they mean to the singer. It's a heartfelt and relatable track that showcases The Swellers's ability to convey complex emotions through their music.
