In the 1950s Frankie Lymon was super popular! Thanks for this video. Frankie still sounds great.
Today they were playing this song in a McDonald's. I was there. I was singing it along with the song. I was there in the 50s. Once you heard Frankie you'll never forget him!

Heard this for the first time on a Wurlitzer Juke Box at the Soda Shop in my home town. The Soda Shop had Wooden Floors and when that Wurlitzer blasted this song it was great the woofer speakers on that juke box were powerful than the sonic boom. Sax work on that record was incredible still sounds fantastic after all the years past. Mark of a great record. It sustains the times and gets better with age. thank you for playing this song

Franklin Joseph "Frankie" Lymon (September 30, 1942 – February 27, 1968) was an American rock and roll/rhythm and blues singer and songwriter, best known as the boy soprano lead singer of the New York City-based early rock and roll group, The Teenagers. The group was composed of five boys, all in their early to mid teens. The original lineup of the Teenagers, an integrated group, included three African American members, Frankie Lymon, Jimmy Merchant and Sherman Garnes, and two Puerto Rican members, Herman Santiago and Joe Negroni.
The Teenagers' first single, 1956's "Why Do Fools Fall in Love", was also their biggest hit. After Lymon went solo in mid-1957, both his career and those of the Teenagers fell into decline. At age 25, he was found dead in his grandmother's bathroom from a heroin overdose. His life was shown in the 1998 film, Why Do Fools Fall In Love.................Eddie

This was the follow up hit song that came out after "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" in 1956. lt's harder to have an equally good second hit song than it is to have that first one....so l have heard.

That's funny you say that because Doo Wop Groups always made terrific follow up songs ...it's the public changing taste that made the follow ups less successful.... Why Do Fools Fall In Love with Frankie Lymon biggest hit it was his most successful but that doesn't necessarily mean it was a best song purests consider SHARE or OUT IN THE COLD AGAIN his best songs....but they weren't as successful as Fools

Supposedly someone who had the good luck to have seen all three of them in their youth said that Frankie was greater than Michael or Stevie. I can't attest to this but certainly Frankie was one of the great singers of all time and the incredible transcendent trills at the end of this song Only prove it more. If this song doesn't make you feel like you're going through puberty, but only the good parts, you are probably already dead.

…..can someone tell me what was up ?...I became a J5 fan in 1970...Amazed at the voice of little Michael Jackson...I heard about The temps, Little Richard, Chuck Berry , fats Domino, The Miracles, etc., AND etc. !!!....but I only heard the name Frankie Lymon ONCE in all those years....then his name came up in the Diana Ross court battle...then a few years after, the Movie,,,THAT'S when I knew frankie Lymon….as a Die-Hard Music fan from the age of 4 (1966), I found this very Strange that I've been tracking all these Singers for so long, but never heard of Frankie for most of this time....were they trying to keep a lid on this man ?....I mean, I knew all about Sammy Davis and the Nicholas brothers many. many., MANY years before I heard anything solid on Frankie...something seems off, here.
