Yeah
The Telescopes Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Snowdrop
Your complaining heart
Beats me too hard
It may take too much more than enough sometimes
I see the stars are somewhere in your smile

I keep trying your pain
I'm sick for your love
I keep trying your pain
I'm sick for your love

What if I said yeah

By the time you come alive, we're comin straight between your eyes
I thought I saw I... swear... I... thought... you tired on me
You stretch my strength, my hopelessness from me...

(repeat chorus)

Overall Meaning

The Telescopes' song "Yeah" is a reflection on the complexities of love and the pain that often comes with it. In the opening lines, the singer is compared to a snowdrop, a flower that is often associated with hope and resilience. However, despite their strength, the singer's heart is "complaining" and causing them pain as they try to navigate the tumultuous emotions of love. The imagery of the stars in the subject's smile suggests a sense of wonder and magic, but this is contrasted with the harsh reality of their troubled heart.

The singer acknowledges their obsession with their lover, declaring that they are "sick for your love." They are willing to endure the pain and torment of the relationship because they cannot let go of their feelings. The repeated chorus of "What if I said yeah" reflects the doubts and fears that accompany such an intense emotion, as the singer questions whether they should continue to pursue the object of their desire.

I heard this about 3 years ago when David Fitzgerald of this band gave me a CD. Meh, it was OK, pleasant enough I suppose. Last night I listened to it stoned and it takes on a whole new level.FANTASTIC! David said this whole album was produced by people who were stoned for people to listen to whilst stoned. I totally got that. As for the pause... I think it's the only time I have ever heard silence have its own sound. Love this type of music. Thanks for uploading it.
