Nessun Dorma
The Tenors Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Nessun dorma! Nessun dorma!
Tu pure, o, Principessa,
Nella tua fredda stanza,
Guardi le stelle
Che tremano d'amore
E di speranza.

Ma il mio mistero e chiuso in me,
Il nome mio nessun saprá!
No, no, sulla tua bocca lo diró
Quando la luce splenderá!

Ed il mio bacio sciogliera il silenzio
Che ti fa mia!

(Il nome suo nessun saprá!
E noi dovrem, ahimé, morir!)

Dilegua, o notte!
Tramontate, stelle!
Tramontate, stelle!

All'alba vinceró!
Vinceró, vinceró!

Overall Meaning

The Tenors' Nessun Dorma is a poignant aria that bulges with emotion and passion. It's one of the most renowned arias in the history of opera, and it fittingly comes from Puccini's masterpiece Turandot. At the beginning of the song, the singer declares, "Nessun Dorma! Nessun Dorma!" which translates to "None shall sleep! None shall sleep!" The singer is stating that they will remain awake until they discover the true identity of the prince, as he is the only man who can win the heart of Princess Turandot.

In the second stanza, the singer refers to the Princess Turandot herself as "Tu pure, o, Principessa" and begs her to look at the sky full of stars that are shimmering with love and hope. Meanwhile, the singer expresses his own mystery and secrecy by declaring that nobody knows his true name. He then stresses that he will only reveal it when the light shines brighter than ever.

The chorus then chimes in to add that the singer's kiss will melt the silence that has been stopping him from being with his beloved. In the fourth stanza, the singer states that he will win the heart of Princess Turandot, even if it necessitates dying.

This, this is what Victor's voice was made for. Such an incredibly powerful voice that blows the Italian arias out of the water. Clifton and Frasier....not too shabby either.

I too wish you guys would do more of the classics. Don't misunderstand me, I love your original music, covers and renditions, but there is just something about the classics that make you want to cry.

Love you guys. 💕

Some videos you just have to watch over and over again; because the experience just takes you to a whole other place. I am mesmerized by the sheer beauty of the music. Clifton, you have an amazing voice for classical music. Wow! Frasier, your voice is so beautiful. Finally, Victor, my God man - such power; I am in awe of your voice. To hear you gentlemen sing Nessun Dorma is a joy to the heart and uplifting to the soul. Thank you, Tenors. Bellissimo!

About time guys, I have always wanted to hear Victor sing this and with you two accompanying him is absolutely incredible. A powerful song for powerful voices. You should do more classics in my opinion, I love the covers but your voices need classics as well. Love you guys.

A balance of covers, and classics are best to show what our voices are capable of doing!
