You know she comes around
She about five feet four
A from her head to the ground
You know she comes around here
At just about midnight
She make ya feel so good, Lord
And her name is G L O are I I I
G L O are I A (Gloria)
G L O are I A (Gloria)
I'm gonna shout it all night (Gloria)
I'm gonna shout it everyday (Gloria)
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
She comes around here
Just about midnight
Ha, she make me feel so good, Lord
I want to say she make me feel alright
Comes a walkin' down my street
When she comes to my house
She knocks upon my door
And then she comes in my room
Yeah, an' she make me feel alright
G L O are I A (Gloria)
G L O are I A (Gloria)
I'm gonna shout it all night (Gloria)
I'm gonna shout it everyday (Gloria)
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Looks so good (Gloria) alright
Just so good (Gloria) alright, yeah
The song "Gloria" by The Them is a classic rock hit that has been covered by numerous artists over the years. The lyrics describe the singer's infatuation with a woman named Gloria who comes around to his place late at night and makes him feel good. The repetition of her name as part of the chorus creates a simple yet catchy hook that makes the song easily memorable and adds to its popularity.
The lyrics of "Gloria" can be interpreted as a metaphor for the experience of falling in love and being consumed by desire for another person. The repetition of Gloria's name in the chorus serves to emphasize her importance to the singer and also indicates his inability to think of anything else when they are apart. The line "just about midnight" suggests that Gloria may be a sort of nocturnal lover, hinting at a sense of danger or forbidden pleasure that adds to the song's appeal.

Vorrei parlarti del mio bambino

Solo circa cinque piedi quattro
Dalla sua testa a terra
Sai, lei viene da queste parti

Viene camminando per la mia strada
Oh, è venuta a casa mia
Bussa alla mia porta
E poi viene nella mia stanza
Sì, lei mi fa sentire bene

A song's greatness is measured by how much of an impact it has long after it stops being played on the radio. Gloria is legendary in that it was seminal in the development of Garage Rock. And of course Garage Rock gave birth to so many vital genres that are still being heard today. Gloria still sounds badass to this day. It is timeless, memorable, sexual and rebellious. The essence of Rock n Roll.

I agree with everything you said. This song is perfect rock and roll. Tough, melodic, sexual. Even the E chord that ends the song is a great moment. Also, I always liked the name of the band.

To this day, the guitar throughout this song is beyond perfection and stands on top for it's quality and consistency. The E, D, A chords with the tiny bell-like "ding" from the organ when the guitar hits A reels you in every time 58 years later. If you are like me, you need to hear it over and over again!

what's crazy is to realize it was Jimmy Page playing that guitar. He also played the guitar part on the "007 Theme" song from the James Bond movie "Goldfinger." those producers knew what they were doing when they brought him into the studio!

It`s probably Clem Cattini playing the drums here. I`m doing my own version of this and didn`t realise how difficult it is to do what Jimmy Page is doing here, getting a perfect guitar recording while taking care to just use the top 3 strings.

This song was the absolute turning point in music in the sixties. After an age of civilised, charming, harmonieus music and some rocking bluesy music by Elvis and Buddy Holly, this was falling straight out of heaven (or hell, as some might say). If you dared to tell your music teacher you loved Gloria, you were cursed and in some cases even expelled from school in that era, due to long hair as well.
After this everything was possible, and so it happened. A new start in music with brilliant results. This flowering, empowering period when hits were released more or less every day. The first single (Gloria) I bought in 1967 and my first LP was by Them as well. Still got it, 56 years later. Still listening to Friday’s Child, Story of Them, part one and two, It’s all over now baby blue, Here comes the night, etc.
Them’s inheritance wiil be there for a long time. Nowadays even my children still love sixties and seventies music. Must have got taste.
