Put your money down and we'll make it last
By dawn we'll be out of here.
The marching band play for the families through the streets, beautiful symphonies.
Let's walk through the park while the trees are still there.
And the midnight choir they sing
They sing a hymn
Aaaaahhhh
But it's all we've got
I've found a job and I'm gonna hold this one down.
I was a burden to everyone when I was young and far from home
But now you're home cos you cant run forever
The old parade stumble together
The drinks last all on them
And the midnight choir they sing
They sing a hymn
We used to believe in ??
But its all we've got.
I don't know what I'd do
I don't know what I'd do
You're all I've ever known.
But if something should come between us
Oh if something should come between us
And the midnight choir they sing
They sing a hymn we used to believe in
But it's all we've got.
The Midnight Choir by The Thrills is a song that speaks about the fast-paced life people are living and how we need to slow down to enjoy moments while they last. The band is making a statement that we should value simple things in life, like walking through the park while the trees are still there. They are urging people to put money down and make it last. The song captures the essence of life, and how we should make the most of every moment.
The lyrics also talk about growing up and taking responsibility for our lives. The singer mentions getting a job and holding it down, as well as not being a burden to anyone. However, the past seems to be catching up to them, and they are reminded of the old days when they used to believe in something. The midnight choir refers to the hope and faith they used to have in their youth, which is all they have left now.
In summary, the song is a reminder that we should slow down, appreciate the simple things in life, take responsibility for our lives, and cherish fond memories.
