Their surreal style has been described as dark, darkly humorous, strangely humorous, Brechtian, and gypsy cabaret. They are also notorious for singing controversial songs involving bestiality, prostitution and blasphemy.
The Tiger Lillies were originally buskers, playing songs about the criminals, pimps and whores of Soho, London, England. Over time, the band became involved in several theatrical productions around the world, including the critically acclaimed Shockheaded Peter. Known for their intense, outlandish, and dark performances, they have garnered both controversy and critical acclaim.
Also "The Tiger Lillies", "The Tigerlilies" and "The Tigerlillies" may refer to Indie rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio that formed in 1989.

My Funny Valentine
The Tiger Lillies Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Sweet comic valentine
You make me smile
With my heart
Your looks are laughable
Unphotographable
Yet you're my favourite work of art
Is your mouth a little weak
When you open it to speak are you smart
Well don't change a hair for me
Not if you care for me
Stay little valentine
Stay because each day is Valentine's Day
The song "My Funny Valentine" by The Tiger Lillies is a hauntingly beautiful ode to a love that is not based on physical perfection. Through the lyrics, the singer expresses his love for his funny valentine, who may not have a conventionally attractive appearance, but nevertheless captures his heart. The first and second verses describe how his sweet and comic valentine makes him smile and yet has looks that are "laughable" and "unphotographable". However, despite not being conventionally attractive, the subject of the song is still the singer's favourite work of art.
The third verse poses a rhetorical question to the subject of the song, asking if they are less than perfect in certain ways. However, the singer reassures them that they should not change a hair for him because they are perfect the way they are. The last line emphasizes this sentiment, encouraging the valentine to stay because every day is like Valentine's Day when they are together. Overall, the song is a touching tribute to the beauty and imperfections of love.
