TSR also had a radio program on AM radio at 11PM on the weekends with a female DJ named Jenny. She played the top 100 from whatever month she was broadcasting. The owner was Irving "Slim" Rose. He, most of the time sat on a bar stool against the wall with a cig hanging out of his mouth.
I have very happy memories of the dingy little store on the first level of the subway at Times Square, NYC. It was about 20 feet long and 1/2 that in width. Records hung from the walls, ceiling and boxes and boxes of pure New York Doo Wop. Ah those were the days, I thought they would never end, but they did.
I have all 11 CD's of Memories of Times Square Records, Some of the songs were great, some were just OK. But they were all Doo Wop. This was the only store of it kind then that just sold one genre of music, on a Saturday afternoon you waited in line to get in. God I miss those days.
Today's music sucks compared to the 50's and very early 60's.
In My Heart
The Timetones Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Of a girl I wanted for my own to have and to hold
So won't someone please tell me what I can do
To make a hit with you
Because I was afraid to tell you just how I feel
I promise to give you all my love and believe me it is real
I want you I need you
My every dream and every scheme
They all include you
When ever I walk and each time I talk
I find out that it's true
Well here in my heart there's a story untold
Of a girl I fell in love with back in days of old
And if having you takes the rest of my life
I won't be free 'til I have you here with me
My every dream and every scheme
They all include you
When ever I walk and each time I talk
I find out that it's true
Well here in my heart there's a story untold
Of a girl I fell in love with back in days of old
And if having you takes the rest of my life
I won't be free 'til I have you here with me

I have never heard one song by this amazing group on any Oldies station or on Sirius. Outstanding harmony.

Rest assured Linda, all of us Jersey City, NJ rock & rollers knew it well!! That was back in the 50's & 60's!!

@bopsieboy The best !!

@Frank Colangelo I grew up in downtown Jersey City NJ in the 50's and some guys from the black areas occasionally would come around an 'harmonise' some do wop stuff. They always sang this song and WERE GREAT! And like Linda said above, I rarely, if at all, ever heard it on the radio. Go figure?
bopsieboy
@Frank Colangelo Still play it several times a week!!

Ironically I discovered this song on a radio station, the Doo-Wop Express!

Many doo-wop records that have only a few instruments have a guitarist who merely half-heartedly strums the instruments. Not here, this guitarist really knows his stuff and contributes to the record, just like the group.

Introduced to this by WCBS-FM in NYC in the 70s, probably Norm N. Nite or Don K. Reed. Literally discovered Slim & TSQ records by accident back then & have enjoyed the two cd compilation boxes of that great music. The liner notes about Slim are unreal! Timetones-absolutely one of the very best and enjoyed playing them on my own doo wop FM show in 1976-77 at the Jersey Shore. Long time ago...
