"That's Not My Name" rose to the top of the U.K. charts in May 2008, the same month that the duo's debut album, We Started Nothing, appeared. The Ting Tings spent the rest of 2008 and a large part of 2009 touring in support of the album, which eventually sold over two million copies worldwide, won the 2009 Ivor Novello Award for Best Album, and earned the group a Best New Artist Grammy nomination that December. Early in 2010, De Martino and White moved to Berlin to work on songs for their second album. Inspired by the city's atmosphere and the cold weather, they went in a darker, more electronic direction with their new songs. In August 2010, the Ting Tings offered a taste of their new material, premiering the single "Hands" -- which was mixed by Calvin Harris -- on BBC Radio 1 and officially releasing it that October. After extensive touring and over eight months recording in Germany and Spain, in March 2012 the Ting Tings offered their sophomore album, Sounds from Nowheresville, a collection of songs inspired by the exuberant freedom of the Beastie Boys' classic Paul's Boutique. Two years later, third album Super Critical surfaced. Its October release date was preceded by the April release of first single "Wrong Club."

Shut up and let me go
This hurts, I tell you so
For the last time you will kiss my lips
Now shut up and let me go
Your jeans were once so clean
I bet you changed your wardrobe since we met
Now oh so easily your over me
Gone is love
It's you that ought to be holding me
I'm not containable
This turns up
It's not sustainable
I ain't freakin'
I ain't fakin' this
I ain't freakin'
I ain't fakin' this
I ain't freakin'
I ain't fakin' this
Shut up and let me go
Hey
Shut up and let me go
This hurts, but I can't show
For the last time you had me in bits
Now shut up and let me go
For fear of leaving in regret
I changed this one when we first met
Now oh so easily your over me
Gone is love
It's me that ought to be moving on
You're not adorable
I want something unignorable
I ain't freakin'
I ain't fakin' this
I ain't freakin'
I ain't fakin' this
I ain't freakin'
I ain't fakin' this
Shut up and let me go
Hey
Oh love, hold this
Hey
Hey
Shut up and let me go
This hurts, I told you so
For the last time you will kiss my lips
Now shut up and let me go
Hey
I ain't freakin'
I ain't fakin' this
I ain't freakin'
I ain't fakin' this
I ain't freakin'
I ain't fakin' this
Shut up and let me go

The Ting Tings's song "Shut Up & Let Me Go" is a catchy and upbeat tune about a breakup. The song speaks to the frustration and liberation that often accompanies ending a relationship. The lyrics "Shut up and let me go" express the singer's desire to move on from the relationship and not be held back by the feelings of the past. She communicates that she is "not containable" and that the relationship is "not sustainable" in its current state. She urges her former partner to let her go and not cling to the past relationship.
The lyrics also touch on the superficial nature of the relationship, with the mention of the ex-partner's changing wardrobe since they first met. The singer also realizes that they were over the relationship before their partner was, and that they need to move on to find something more "unignorable." The lines "For the last time, you had me in bits/ Now shut up and let me go" show that the singer is done being hurt by this relationship and is ready to move on.
Overall, "Shut Up & Let Me Go" is a fun and empowering breakup anthem that encourages listeners to let go of toxic relationships and move forward with confidence.
