The death of Joe Meek in 1967 also meant the end of the Tornados. In 1975, four of the five original members tried an unsuccessful comeback as the New Tornados.
Drummer Clem Cattini often played on recording sessions for other artists and sometimes featured in Cliff Richard's backing bands. He holds the record for appearing on the most UK Number One singles in chart history. Rhythm guitarist George Bellamy is the father of the successful British rock band Muse frontman, Matthew Bellamy.

Exodus
The Tornados Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
This brave and ancient land to me
And when the morning sun reveals her hills and plain
Then I see a land where children can run free
So take my hand and walk this land with me
And walk this lovely land with me
Though I am just a man, when you are by my side
Though I am just a man, when you are by my side
With the help of God, I know I can be strong
To make this land our home
If I must fight, I'll fight to make this land our own
Until I die, this land is mine

Just heard the undubbed version of this, Joe knew his knobs, sliders, faders and buttons inside out, I see in many interviews that the tornadoes sometimes make little of Joe with the fact he was tone deaf, but Joes musical talent was in the field of creating 'sounds' and a master he was at that.
Mike Love
FP51DPO Joe wasn't tone deaf, kind of impossible what with his writing and producing hundreds of songs. He certainly wasn't a very good singer or musician however. His true talent was obviously on the production end of the music business.

"Discovered" this one when I bought "World Of The Tornadoes" LP around 1972/73 and I've liked it ever since. The picture here, I remember that appearing in a copy of "Fabulous" magazine back in the early - mid 60's! Thanks for posting, Telstar1000!
