Daddy Cool
The Traceelords Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

My head don't fit my brain
It's just about to explode
I drive myself insane
Wanna solve the problem
Break the code
Your lips keep moving
But I've heard it all before
My latest working theory is
You don't love me anymore
That's how it's meant to be
The opening act to my memories
Tear out, tear out my own heart
It hurts like crazy
But I think I gotta go
Everything you do or say
Comes too late, baby
Don't you know?
Sometimes good, sometimes bad
Hardly funny, mostly sad
I'll be better off this way
No bass drum in your rhythm section
No meaning in your words at all

Next time you're making promises
Better back them up with some action

Overall Meaning

The Traceelords's Daddy Cool is a song that seems to deal with unrequited love where the singer feels like their head is about to explode, driving them insane. The opening line, "My head don't fit my brain," suggests a disconnect between the mind and body. The song seems to be about a lover who has lost interest in the singer, whose latest working theory is that the lover doesn't love them anymore.

The singer seems to have come to terms with this, accepting it as the opening act to their memories. They contemplate tearing out their own heart, recognizing that it will hurt like crazy, but they feel like they gotta go. The lover's actions and words always seem to come too late, leaving the singer feeling like they should have known better.

Overall, the song expresses a deep sense of sadness and disappointment. The singer seems to have accepted that they will be better off without this lover, who promises a lot but never follows through with action. The song is a poignant reflection on the pain of unrequited love and the frustration of empty promises.

this rendition is too primitive as for my old style metal preferences - but the riff is played perfectly, and all the song has a good sound and power, and the idea of this cover was great
