Christmas Is Coming
The Traveler Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You better watch out
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why (why)
Santa Claus is coming to town (gather around)

He's making a list
Checking it twice
Gonna find out who's naughty and nice
Santa Claus is coming to town

He sees you when you're sleeping
He knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake

You better watch out
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town

With little tin horns and little toy drums
Rudy-toot-toot and rummy tum tums
Santa Claus is coming to town

And girls they get dolls that cuddle and coo
Elephants, boats, and kiddie cars too
Santa Claus is coming to town

The kids in girl and boy land
Will have a jubilee
They're gonna build a toy land town
All around the Christmas tree

You better watch out
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town

He sees you when you're sleeping
And he knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake

You better watch out
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town

You better watch out
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming

You mean the fat man with the long white beard
He's coming to town

Overall Meaning

The Traveler's song Christmas Is Coming is a classic Christmas song that is enjoyed by people of all ages. The song is about the anticipation of Santa Claus's arrival as he spends his year preparing for his seasonal duties. The opening verse of "You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout, I'm telling you why," shows the excitement of the season and the understanding that naughty actions might have consequences. This line reveals the message that actions have consequences, and it is essential to be good for goodness sake. Santa Claus is portrayed as a benevolent figure who brings presents and joy to all children who have been good throughout the year.

The next verse, "He's making a list, checking it twice, gonna find out who's naughty and nice; Santa Claus is coming to town," captures the joy and excitement of the children during the festive season at the anticipation of receiving gifts if they have been well behaved. This verse also gives the impression that children should strive to be good all year round because Santa Claus only awards good behavior.

In addition, the song uses playful and vibrant language to describe the kinds of gifts that Santa Claus brings, such as "little tin horns and little toy drums, Rudy-toot-toot, and rummy tum tums." The reference to "girls, elephants, boats, and kiddie cars too" suggests that children of all genders will receive a gift, regardless of the stereotype that boys receive toys like trains and vehicles. The final verse, "The kids in girl and boy land will have a jubilee, they're gonna build a toy land town all around the Christmas tree," implies that the festive season brings a sense of community and joy in everyone's hearts, regardless of their age.

@theglassis I once got a master, one of the most Incredible people I've ever met.
When I first started my adventure I was naive and inexperienced. Not even acknowledging my trip had started I walked down the road. I tried something with all my heart and soul and failed.
Surrounded by sorrow and burden I thought about burning out all I got. Myself included.
In the darkest hours he found me and gifted me with a quote that will always remain in me. "Audaces fortuna iuvat". It's a Latin quote that means "fortune is for the brave".
Yes, I failed. Yes, I got hurt. A lot. But I also got to meet people like him that inspired me and I lived incredible experiences because of my past failures. And I'm never gonna fail the same way I did.
I'm not saying failure is ok, it hurts so f*cking bad and if possible I'd like to avoid it one million times.
But I have to embrace past experiences too.
So if you ask me why did I started my adventure... It just happened. With all my actions. But I continued for the people that helped me and for myself. Because "there's nothing crueler than letting a dream end midway".
So why would you ride on an adventure? Because that's what will make you discover who you are. Who is by your side.
Move and things will happen to you. Keep moving.

This... This part of the internet... it's called "hope". Thank you all for being here, sharing your kindness with other travelers who lost their way and needed a rest, just like me. I have been wandering for so long... But hey, Im really convinced that there's still a way. I don't know where, but I can feel it, deep in my heart. That's the power of "hope". May the gods bless you all fellow travelers.
