VirtualLionelMessi you've ressurected the brilliance. And you've made a point....a pointed aspect of our fallen human nature.
We don't just do the harmful.... we also don't do the good. And many times we watch ourselves doing... or not doing... almost helpless.
Almost.
It's a thought to consider when we come face to face with handicap people who often times are at the mercy of their syndrome.
Our excuse is far more flimsy.
But there is hope!

"End Of Me"
I took some time away
For understanding of what brought us here today
Oh, you'll be the end of me
I'm never happy like we were happy
I'm never sad like we were sad
Oh, you'll be the end of me
You know me all too well
And I can't suppress the memories
You're gone and I can tell
That I've lost more than you'll ever see
Don't say that it's not fair
That you're not the person you wanna be
'Cause Oh, you'll be the end of me
I know I wasn't perfect, but I kept trying
Till I forgot why I stayed
Oh, you'll be the end of me
Yeah we lost all meaning
We lost the magic
So good luck to you on your way
Oh, you'll be the end of me
You know me all too well
And I can't suppress the memories
You're gone and I can tell
That I've lost more than you'll ever see
Don't say that it's not fair
That you're not the person you wanna be
'Cause oh, you'll be the end of me (you'll be the end of me)
I get it, no, I get it
Gave more than I took back, oh well (took back, oh well)
I get it, no, I get it
Can't help those who don't wanna be helped
You know me all too well
And I can't suppress the memories
You're gone and I can tell
That I've lost more than you'll ever see
Don't say that it's not fair
That you're not the person you wanna be
'Cause Oh, you'll be the end of me
You'll be the end of me...

So it's been six years since this song came out and I just found it.
I've been a fan of them since 14 and I am 30. This literally is how I feel about my relationship with my father.
He beat people, attempted to take life in general (others, himself, animals...) But he kept swearing he loved all of us.
I let him go at 24. When this song came out. If I didn't he would have been the end of me.
I love him so much. It hurts every day that I can't talk to him. But if I do I'll fall back into being under his dangerous thumb. I can't do it again.

The end of me

There was a brilliant comment here once which explained this song so well and it's too bad it's not in the top comments anymore. This song/video is about this boy who is doing the same thing over and over. Even if it's harmful for him he can't stop doing it. The aged man is the future boy who ends up all alone and dies in the end, because he wasn't able to change. Personally I find the idea brilliant because change can be so hard sometimes. We tend to do things over and over again just because we're afraid of change, even if we know we need to change. We're weird creatures sometimes :)

I honestly cant stop listening to this song. My best friend, Andrew committed suicide recently and this was his favorite song.I have always loved this song, and I showed him A Day To Remember, but now this song has a deeper emotional connection to me. Rest in Peac, Drew {6.24.15}
