After shortening their name to The U-Krew, the band released its only album in 1989, eponymously titled The U-Krew. The album peaked at #93 on the Billboard 200[1] and included the hit singles "If U Were Mine" and "Let Me Be Your Lover" which reached number 21 and number 68 respectively on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1990.[2] The band never released another album.

The U-Krew Lyrics

Well it don't come for free
They'll sell you absolution
Once a fucking week
The questions you ask
Unanswered so far
Misleading fragmentations of
Sick and tired of all these stories that you hide behind
They're all made up just to give you some fucking piece of mind
Feed your ego, narcissism and a god complex
If you've got time to kill, your bell's ringing next
Sick and tired of all this bullshit fucking ignorance
How did it come to this, it just don't make no sense
Division spreading from the roots of public negligence
Just listen up, don't spread intolerance
In the song by The U-Krew, the lyrics refer to the idea that forgiveness is not something that comes for free. The opening line, "The forgiveness you seek, well it don't come for free," suggests that people have to pay for absolution, which means that they have to seek penance from someone in order to be forgiven.
The following lyrics then suggest that people will turn to religion as a means of obtaining forgiveness. However, the author suggests that this path is misguided. "They'll sell you absolution once a fucking week," suggests that people are being taken advantage of by those who claim to offer salvation. The author claims that the explanations and answers provided by religion are misleading fragments that are made up.
The lyrics then shift to a criticism of society as a whole, with the author stating that they are sick and tired of the stories that people hide behind. The songs accuse people of feeding their ego, narcissism, and god complex by ignoring the fact that they are being misled. Overall, the song is a criticism of blind faith and the selling of forgiveness.
