As residents and promoters of the Electric Chair the reputation of the Unabombers has grown hand in hand with the success of the club which the pair started together in 1995.

It was one of Manchester's longest running club nights the Electric Chair & the Unabombers have been accorded cult status in the city for their monthly night of madness and mayhem.

Since then the Unabombers have taken their sound around the country's clubs including The Blue Note, Heavenly Social, The 333, Plastic People, Leeds' Hard Times, Birmingham's Que Club, Manchester's Hacienda, Bugged Out, Cork's Telefunkin, Glasgow's Wax Lyrical, Brighton's Vibes Express as well as the In The City music festival, Homelands and T-In-The-Park.

Central to the sound of this underground Manchester club is the open minded music policy of the Unabombers which has been variously described as "free style" & "northern sulphuric soul".

Their sets are characterised by a flow through genres: hip hop, disco, deep house & beyond; making links between quality music with a rich vein of funk!

In 2001 the Unabombers released their first mix album 'Basement Soul Music' to great acclaim. A collection featuring classic Electric Chair anthems such as Donna Summer's 'I Feel Love', LadyCop's 'To Be Real' and Capoiera Twins' 'Four (4x3)', the reaction was emphatic to say the least, with legions of new clubbers eager to check out the Unabombers live.

The follow up 'Saturday Night Sunday Morning' was released in 2002, and delivered a deeper journey into the true sound of the Unabombers. The evidence for their increasing talents is obvious to anyone who attends the Electric Chair on a regular basis, as the popularity of the residents-only nights proves. For those who can't attend, this album goes a long way towards capturing the vibe - the proof is in the mix!

I think the difference is that people who are goofing off or going to a party are only using small amounts. With scientific experiments they can use massive doses. For years the fbi profile said that the unsub was not highly educated and an airline mechanic. Wasn’t until Ted wrote the manifesto and it was published that his brothers wife noticed that it sounded like old letters that Ted had written to his brother that he became a suspect.

Absolutely love these documentaries... for this video on the unabomber, I understand keeping information regarding the case out of the media BUT I truly wish an urgent warning was sent to all colleges, universities and airlines warning people to not approach or open suspicious packages or objects. I truly feel that warning would not have jeopardized the FBI's case and possibly could have saved lives.... just my thoughts but damn good documentary

In his manifesto he tells of the place in Montana that he loved, that he walked to, it remote, peaceful. Then, after not going there for several weeks, he walks to it, and it's being bulldozed, destroyed. He writes that that's what set him off. I understand his feelings. The man wasn't wrong in his beliefs, only his methods of obtaining the attention of the public. I read the unabomber manifesto and it's precisely the things that I've been vaguely articulating (and learning from psychologists/philosophers) in relation to leftist psychology. His prose was very simplistic and casual, but I assume that was only because he wanted it to be easy for the everyday man to understand and read without hassle. He wanted as many people as possible to truly understand the threat he saw.

Do you think a book by him or his writing has to be all bad since it's him ?? Wondering . I found one selling and did not know he was the writer of stuff ,but the book in a way still praised about what he wrote as if recommended . His manifesto is a good read. His ideas, and anarcho-primitivism in general are subjects worthy of further study. Of course the way he went about highlighting his message was terrible and the loss of life a tragedy.

This man was soo thorough and intelligent. He actually read books on how to not leave fingerprints, and studied criminology textbooks. He was soo thorough and careful about his crimes that he went like 16 yrs without getting caught and this is while having the FBI and all kinds of task force looking for him. He did all of this by himself. This man was VERY intelligent and extremely insane.

I once worked a funeral (I'm an embalmer/mortician) where a guy wouldn't stop asking me out during the entire funeral service and graveside.. he then proceeded to tell me that he was questioned by the FBI for looking much like the composite of the Unabomber, and boy did he ever!! Thank you for the analysis and some of the clinical background stuff. I've read his book/manifesto and he is clearly not off the chain, but there is a particular reading of the text that does allude to the idea that technology is controlling human affairs. TBH, and perhaps because it is dated at this point, its not unlike the stuff you would read from undergraduate papers, but with some footnotes. Its Foucauldian in its analysis and sees power manipulation at every turn, like some perpetual struggle between freedom and technology....

He is considered a hero in some circles. The Netflix documentary states that he chose random victims. This couldn't be further from the truth. He meticulously planned who was to be punished for their sins. There was a rhyme to his reason and you could see how he could be justified in a sense. He just took it a little too far. He is not insane and we are seeing that his theories are coming true in this day and age. It was a bit shameless for his own brother to turn him in for reward $. Although in his warped mind, he probably thought he was doing the right thing. I could definitely see it from both sides, the right and the wrong wrapped up together morally.

Where did Ted get funds to travel the way he did? This guy caused me a lot of stress when I was flying from Chicago to Los Angeles in 1995, and there was a news report that flights out of Chicago to LA were in danger because of his threats of bombing planes.

Omg, I met a Ted K. type personality that unfortunately had taken a liking to me years back. This dude was incredibly intelligent, and had the same disgruntled mindset as Ted K. One day he showed up at my job, and offered to give me a ride home. While we were on route, he brought to my attention he had dynamite stashed in his trunk which apparently he had taken from a job site at Pink Mountain on the Alaska highway. I felt in my gut, he was capable of dangerously harming someone if triggered. I hate to think what this guy may have been up to all these years later.

if Berkeley and other schools had open files and contracts he'd probably have showed up on a suspect list. I drove a lady that is a Federal 4th Circuit Judge in SF that worked on the Unibomber file with my HIGH SCHOOL debate coach, who was/is now the D.A. for San Mateo. FBI Guy tries to take credit for catching the Unabomber by stating their motives for publishing the manuscript….which were curiously aligned with the brother’s recognizing the writing later. The fact is that it was purely coincidental. They describe the brother’s decision as “gut-wrenching,” while an article I read a while back said that the brother’s decision was very straightforward and immediate.
