February 2013 sees the release of the band's third album, 'The World is Yours'.
2. The Union began life in 1965 as the Arthur Brown-fronted Arthur Brown Union. When he left for Paris, a reconfigured line-up carried on. Based around guitarist Paul Brett, alto playerTony Priestland, drummer Jim Toomey, organist Art Regis and bassist Roy Stacey (the latter two went on the be in Jimmy James & The Vagabonds) plus new recruit Dave Terry on vocals, they recorded an enthusiastic version of Don Cobay's 'See-Saw' at Tony Pike's Studio in Putney, paid for by Brett's father, Frank. When The Union ended, Brett went to Paris and rejoined Arthur Brown in the Arthur Brown Set while Dave Terry became better known as Elmer Gantry in Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera.

Some might call it love,
It's so persistent, and so insistent,
That I just can't switch off.
I didn't want it this way,
But all results just slipped away,
I'm cracking, breaking down,
Got my finger right here on the trigger,
Of a jealous gun,
I can't stand to see you with another,
You're an obsession,
Na na na na na na,
Na na na,
Na na na na na.
So compelling and it's overwhelming,
That it's so hard to believe,
It crept up slowly, your choke-hold on me,
Now I feel like I can't breathe.
I'm burning, I'm on fire,
I'm a prisoner of desire,
You're freezing, so removed,
I'm battered and bruised.
Got my finger right here on the trigger,
Of a jealous gun,
I can't stand to see you with another,
You're an obsession,
Na na na na na na,
Na na na,
Na na na na na.
You're my obsession.
Dark sensation, a straight fixation,
Some might call it love,
It's so persistent, and so insistent,
That I just can't switch off.
I didn't want it this way,
But all results just slipped away,
I'm cracking, breaking down,
Tortured, tied and bound.
Got my finger right here on the trigger,
Of a jealous gun,
I can't stand to see you with another,
You're an obsession,
Na na na na na na,
Na na na,
Na na na na na.
You're my obsession.
The Union's song "Obsession" conveys the intense emotional experience of someone who is obsessed with another person. The singer is consumed by their fixation and admits that it's hard to turn it off. They didn't choose to feel this way, but the obsession won't let them go. The lyrics draw an analogy to a gun loaded with jealousy that the singer is ready to use if they see the object of their obsession with someone else.
The second verse suggests that this person's obsession with the object of their affection crept up on them. They never expected to feel this way, but now they can't breathe without the person. The obsession has left the singer feeling imprisoned, battered and bruised. The chorus repeats insistently that the singer is obsessed, a refrain that reinforces the idea that this isn't just a passing fancy.
Overall, the song achieves a sense of tension and anxiety that reflects the experience of an obsessive mind. Whether the person being obsessed over is aware of their stalker-like behavior or not is unclear, but the singer is clearly suffering.
