Every time that she is near
Shame that we're always parted
Shame that she's never near
On the day that we went out shopping
All she bought were very short skirts
Shame that we're always parted
Please stop calling me at home
Please stop calling me at home
Thought I think you're lovely baby
Won't you please, leave me alone?
Found a note lying on your table
Found a note, dropped it on the floor
And he always will be parted
Of that I'm completely sure
Please stop calling me at home
Please stop calling me at home
Thought I think you're lovely baby
Won't you please, leave me alone?
Please stop calling me at home
Please stop calling me at home
Thought I think you're lovely baby
Won't you please, leave me alone?
The Upper Room's song "Leave Me Alone" is a classic breakup song that expresses the frustration and desperation of trying to end a relationship. The song's narrator is clearly unhappy in his relationship with a girl who seems to be obsessed with him. He finds himself constantly attracted to her, even though they are never able to be together.
The lyrics explore the mixed emotions that come with a toxic relationship. On one hand, the singer is drawn to the girl and finds himself getting "started" every time she's around. On the other hand, he feels trapped and suffocated by her constant presence and incessant phone calls. He longs for her to leave him alone, but at the same time, he can't seem to let go of the connection they share.
The message of the song is ultimately about the difficulty of breaking up with someone, especially when you have strong feelings for them. Even though the singer knows he needs to move on, he still finds himself drawn to his ex-girlfriend and struggling to let go.
Overall, "Leave Me Alone" is a relatable and emotionally powerful song that captures the complexities of love and breakups in a moving way.
