I donât think this song is just about sex, I think sex is just the placeholder for intimacy which people in relationships like to think is unique and irreplaceable. Heâs generally singing about the feeling of when you break up with someone and they move on from you to someone else before you do, and how that hurts your feelings because youâre left feeling like what took place wasnât just sex but a completely irreplaceable and unique act which used to be between the two of you, i do think the singer acknowledges the reality of the situation though in the line â when you love somebody but you find someoneâ ultimately sex means very little compared to a long term emotional relationship, but many people after breaking up will still be in love with their ex but they will sleep with somebody to try to get over it, but ultimately the person they slept with and the act of sleeping with them means very little
