Peaches
The Valley Below Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Everybody got disease maybe it's alright
You can steal from me baby that's just fine
You can say it's free baby that's alright
Working on a feeling
Breaking down the ceiling
Freezing on the beaches
Reaching for the sweetest, sweetest peaches
We won't live too long
So let's love for one song
The lion won't lay down
When the holy man's in town
You've been drinking all week baby that's alright
You've been stepping on me baby it's alright
You've been tearing me apart in the dead of night
I'll be raising my hands when the lighting strikes
Working on a feeling
Breaking down the ceiling
Digging up a deep end
Freezing on the beaches
Reaching for the sweetest, sweetest peaches
We won't live too long
So let's love for one song
The lion won't lay down
When the holy man's in town
Working on a feeling
Breaking down the ceiling
Digging up a deep end
Freezing on the beaches
Reaching for the sweetest, sweetest peaches
We won't live too long
So let's love for one song
The lion won't lay down
When the holy man's in town
Working on a feeling
Breaking down the ceiling
Digging up a deep end
Freezing on the beaches
Reaching for the sweetest, sweetest peaches
The Valley Below’s song “Peaches” is an up-tempo, moody rock song that is open to interpretation. The lyrics seem to be about living a wild, free life in the moment, with lines like “We won’t live too long, so let’s love for one song.” The first verse refers to working hard, but accepting that everyone has their own struggles and illnesses, and that’s just life. The second verse talks about a tumultuous relationship where someone has been drinking heavily and has been difficult to handle, but the singer seems to accept it as part of the relationship.
The chorus repeats the phrase “working on a feeling,” which could refer to trying to maintain a positive attitude or trying to work through the difficult moments in life. It also references digging “up a deep end,” which could be about trying to uncover something that has been hidden or struggling to understand something that is buried deep within oneself. The line “Freezing on the beaches, reaching for the sweetest, sweetest peaches” is open to interpretation, but it could refer to the struggle of trying to access something desirable that is just out of reach.
Overall, the lyrics of “Peaches” seem to be about accepting the ups and downs of life, but striving to find the sweet moments among the chaos.

So rare it is to encounter a song that becomes a part of you on a moment's notice. This song is perfect. Just perfect.

Oh wow that is the best way to put it. I was jogging one day with my usual 'empire of the sun' Pandora channel going and this jem came up. I immediately looked at the artist and immediately made sure I kept them in my memory. After that I sent it to everyone I cared about and we still talk about how amazing it is 🙂

How does this make so much sense. Rainbow Kitten Surprise songs are like for me as well. Look up Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap. It also has this feeling. Doses and Mimosas by Cherub does it too.

My mother (a boomer from the hippy generation) turned me (generation x) on to this song... She kept up with music more than I did. She had some amazing taste in her old age. She would go from a song like this to slipknot in a heartbeat. R.I.P Ma.
