Venus in Furs
The Velvet Underground Lyrics
Shiny, shiny, shiny boots of leather
Whiplash girl child in the dark
Comes in bells, your servant, don't forsake him
Strike, dear mistress, and cure his heart
Downy sins of streetlight fancies
Chase the costumes she shall wear
Ermine furs adorn the imperious
Severin, Severin awaits you there
I could sleep for a thousand years
A thousand dreams that would awake me
Different colors made of tears
Kiss the boot of shiny, shiny leather
Shiny leather in the dark
Tongue of thongs, the belt that does await you
Strike, dear mistress, and cure his heart
Severin, Severin, speak so slightly
Severin, down on your bended knee
Taste the whip, in love not given lightly
Taste the whip, now bleed for me
I am tired, I am weary
I could sleep for a thousand years
A thousand dreams that would awake me
Different colors made of tears
Shiny, shiny, shiny boots of leather
Whiplash girl child in the dark
Severin, your servant comes in bells, please don't forsake him
Strike, dear mistress, and cure his heart

The classic, musical adaption of Leopold von Sacher-Masoch's homage to feminine dominance. Published in 1870, VENUS IN FURS created such a sensation that it was his name that became the root behind "Masochism." Velvet Underground created this musical tribute to the dark side of sexuality in what has become an underground classic within the S/m scene.

"...and this song, just indicated how tame music became through the late 80's to the 90's."
Sonic Youth. SONIC YOUTH. Schizophrenia, Pacific Coast Highway, Shadow of a Doubt, Death Valley '69, Kill Yr Idols, Shaking Hell, Cinderella's Big Score, I could on and on and on.
Nirvana themselves LOVED Sonic Youth. When they were getting famous from 'Smells Like Teen Spirit', they were touring with the one, the only Sonic Youth.
Sonic Youth were the only true successors to The Velvet Underground.

I remember doing heroin and cocaine(I believe it was called a "speedball" back then mid 90's) I was listening to this song and I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Everything got loud and my head was throbbing. I felt a pain/burning in my chest and I could barely breath( I felt like i was breathing underwater). The whole time, I was trying not to let on and play it cool. I was holding on to dear life (literally, as i was grasping on to the coffee table with all my might, my knuckles were white) I thought that day I was going to die. then this girl saw what was happening and we walked outside and stared at the new york skyline from the balcony. I never got her name but she probably saved my life...so, to whoever you are, thank you....the things you do when you are young....

Speedball was the reason Layne Staley died for! She was your angel!

@meeson s. a speedball is a concoction of heroin& coke, it could be either lethal or the best high ever
