They began their career in 1991, cutting their first 7" record later that year with the lineup of Joey Vindictive (vocals), Johnny Personality (bass), Billy Blastoff (guitar), Dr. Bob (guitar), P.J. Parti (drums) and Erik Elsewhere (drums). The band would end up releasing 12 albums until July of 1996, when Joey Vindictive revealed that his health issues would prevent the band from going on. Luckily for him, he overcame his ailments to re-form the band in 2000, cutting a new album and overseeing the re-release of a significant part of their catalog. Dr. Bob died in 2003 due to a heroin overdose. Their song "The Invisible Man" was featured in the Ubisoft game Watch Dogs, where it attracted attention to restart the band once more in 2013, releasing a new EP titled Mono-Flexi, and to remaster most of their previous songs as Songbooks coming in volumes starting from I to III.
The Vindictives' website is currently down indefinitely.

The kids want a little action
The kids want a little fun
The kids all have to get their kicks
Before the evening's done
'Cause they're goin' to
(High school) rah, rah, rah
(High school) sis, boom, bah
(High school) hey, hey, hey
You better let them have their way
They only wanna shake it up, baby
Dance to the rockin' bands
They only want a little excitement
They like to get a little outta hand
'Cause they're goin' to
(High school) rah, rah, rah
(High school) sis, boom, bah
(High school) hey, hey, hey
You better let them have their way
The kids know what the deal is
They're getting farther out everyday
We're gonna be takin' over
You better get out of the way
'Cause we're goin' to
(High school) rah, rah, rah
(High school) sis, boom, bah
(High school) hey, hey, hey
You better get out of the way
(High school) rah, rah, rah
(High school) sis, boom, bah
(High school) hey, hey, hey
You better get out of the way
(High school) rah, rah, rah
(High school) cha, cha, cha
(High school) hey, hey, hey
You better get out of the way
(High school) rah, rah, rah
(High school) cha, cha, cha
(High school) hey, hey, hey
You better get out of the way
(High school) rah, rah, rah
(High school) sis, boom, bah
(High school) hey, hey, hey
You better get out of the way
The Vindictives' song "High School" is an anthem for teenagers who want to have fun and break the rules. The lyrics express the desire for excitement and action that is inherent in most teenagers, especially when they are experiencing their adolescence in the context of high school. The song's lyrics urge adults to let them have their way, to let them dance to the rockin' bands and get a little out of hand. The kids are going to high school, and they know what the deal is. They are getting farther out every day, and they will take over.
The lyrics suggest that high school is a place where young people can express themselves and let loose, and there is an underlying message of rebellion against authority. The song has a rhythmic and energetic quality to it, with the repetitive use of "rah, rah, rah" and "sis, boom, bah" adding to the overall feeling of excitement and anticipation. Interestingly, the song's upbeat tone and catchy melody contradict the fact that many teenagers struggle during their high school years and often experience bullying, exclusion, and feelings of inadequacy. Nonetheless, the song captures the excitement and passion that young people feel during these formative years of their lives.
