They appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone in October 2002 (the first Australian band to do so since Men at Work in 1983) with the words "Rock is Back: meet the Vines" boldly emblazoned underneath. Referred to as the 'The' bands, The Strokes, The Hives, The White Stripes and The Vines combined "old fashioned punk and adrenaline fuelled riffs" to be ushered in at the beginning of 2002 as the "saviors of rock".
The Vines have been moderately successful in the Australian recording industry, winning an ARIA in 2002 for Breakthrough Artist and receiving nominations for six other awards in as many years. In 2003, their debut album Highly Evolved went double platinum in their home country of Australia, and since then the band has released six albums and a "Best-Of" compilation from their time at Capitol Records.
The band started to record their 5th album in February 2010. The album recording was completely finished in mid March, with mixing taking place in Sydney at the end of March and mastering taking place in early April. The album, "Future Primitve," was released in June 2011.

She's Got Something To Say
The Vines Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
About me ever comin' round
She's got somethin' to say to me
And don't know how to be left out
Are you tellin' me what you ain't knowin'
She's got somethin' to say to me
About me ever comin' round
And don't know how to be left out
Are you tellin' me what you ain't knowin'
About me ever comin' round to play
And I wouldn't want to let you down
Meet you in the mornin' after daze
Soakin' the sunrays from the ground
She's got somethin' to say to me
About me ever comin' round
She's got somethin' to say to me
And don't know how to be left out
Are you tellin' me what you ain't knowin'
The lyrics in The Vines' song "She's Got Something to Say to Me" seem to focus on the confusion and uncertainty that comes with communication between two people. The repetition of the phrase "she's got something to say to me" throughout the song hints at a frustration with the lack of clarity in the message being conveyed. The singer also seems to be confused about the person's intentions, wondering if they are telling him something he doesn't already know. The line "are you tellin' me what you ain't knowin'" suggests that the person speaking to him is perhaps struggling to express their feelings.
Despite the confusion, there is an underlying sense of positivity in the song. The singer expresses a desire to "meet you in the mornin' after daze / Soakin' the sunrays from the ground," indicating a willingness to engage with the person and a hope that the communication will become clearer.
Overall, "She's Got Something to Say to Me" is a song about the struggle to communicate effectively and the power of positivity in overcoming that struggle.
