True
The Voice Of Sleep Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

A man, once lost his life to this lake.
His boat capsized, and in the dark he fought off the waves.
He swam for his daughter, he swam for his wife.
But that day the water was stronger, and he lost the fight.
Can someone tell me why?

I wonder now, what were his last thoughts?
Did he beg for his childhood?
Did he pray to his God?
Were his last words a curse, for those who care not for their lives?
Or did he say I love you, to his children and wife?

Like I love you.

You sleep. You dream. You live. You breathe.

Overall Meaning

The song "True" by The Voice Of Sleep tells a haunting story of a man who lost his life in a lake. The lyrics paint a picture of a man who was fighting for his family's safety as his boat capsized in the dark. Despite his efforts, he was unable to overcome the strength of the water and ultimately lost his life. The singer asks a poignant question, "Can someone tell me why?", perhaps questioning the randomness of fate and tragedy.

The second verse of the song delves deeper into the man's last moments. The singer wonders what the man's final thoughts were - did he reflect on his childhood or pray to his God? Yeah I'd say against laying on your stomach.

I've suffered sleep paralysis all my life quite frequently to the point it's more of a mild Inconvenience now I can control my emotions and know what to do.

However the only times that goes out the window is when I wake up face down into my pillow barely being able to breathe.

I still remember one time in particular when I was around ten where I was stuck for 10 minutes like that completely unable to move.

I find I never get sleep paralysis when I wake up on my side though so that's my go to.

I have experienced sleep paralysis for more than 10 years and this is the first time I have researched it. I knew I was experiencing this condition but for some strange reason I never looked into it.

It occurs for me every few months, maybe that's why I never looked into the condition seriously.

When it happens for me, I feel like I can't move. Like something is pushing my body into the ground. I mostly just strain and fight against this pressure until I can move.

Sleep paralysis happens for me when I sleep on my back, but not all the time. I sleep side to side. Most of the time it happens when I have been in a deep sleep and I find myself lying on my back and I try to lie on my side then I'm suddenly awake

Maybe this is why I have never researched it, but I did know of its existence.

Everyone making jokes have probably never really experienced this. It’s the most terrifying feeling any human can handle. It’s no joke.

I have it nearly every night and multiple times in some night even up to like ten times where I keep waking up and when trying to go back to sleep I slip right into it, it’s still uncomfortable but I’m pretty used to it now and it’s not so scary
