No, woman, no cry
No, woman, no cry
No, woman, no cry
'Cause, 'cause, 'cause I remember when we used to sit
In the government yard in Trenchtown
Oba observing the 'ypocrites
Good friends we have, oh, good friends we've lost
Along the way
In this great future, you can't forget your past
So dry your tears, I seh
No, woman, no cry
No, woman, no cry
'Ere, little darlin', don't shed no tears
No, woman, no cry
Said, said, said, I remember when-a we used to sit
In the government yard in Trenchtown
And then Georgie would make the fire lights, I seh
A log wood burnin' through the night
Then we would cook cornmeal porridge, I seh
Of which I'll share with you
My feet is my only carriage
And so I've got to push on through
But while I'm gone
Everything's gonna be all right
Everything's gonna be all right
Everything's gonna be all right
Everything's gonna be all right
Everything's gonna be all right
Everything's gonna be all right
Everything's gonna be all right
Everything's gonna be all right
So no woman, no cry
No woman, no cry
I say, oh little oh little darling, don't shed no tears
No woman, no cry
No woman, no woman, no woman, no cry
No woman, no cry, one more time I've got to say
Oh little little darling, please don't shed no tears
No woman, no cry
No woman, no woman no cry
The lyrics of Bob Marley's "No Woman No Cry" express a message of hope and inspiration in the face of adversity. The first stanza repeats the song's title phrase four times, and suggests that the absence of a woman in one's life can be a source of comfort rather than pain. The second stanza describes Bob Marley's memories of sitting in the "government yard" in Trenchtown, Jamaica, observing the hypocrisy of the community's leaders and finding solace in the company of good friends. The third stanza describes the ritual of making a fire and cooking cornmeal porridge with his friend Georgie. In the final stanza, Marley acknowledges the challenges he must face (his feet being his only carriage), but maintains that everything will be alright and encourages his listeners to avoid shedding tears over a woman's absence.

My favorite Marley song is No woman, No cry! Bob was sent from heaven to bless the world with his anointed talent and make a timeless musical impact that transcends race, religions, politics, cultures, ethnicities, and age. He and his music connect and unite the world in one love. His children, even from different mothers, live out his amazing legacy as one family. Bob once said he's African first, then Jamaican, but he belongs to the universe. His critics are ignored by the millions of fans. Too bad his own father didn't want to get to know him.
