The Wannadies Lyrics

Wednesdays might go out, at least something
Thursday's the day after Wednesday
Fridays I go out, at least something
Hit, who's calling this a
Hit, well I deserve a
Hit, calling this a
Mon...mon - day's...day's - no...no - fun...fun
Tues...tues - day's...day's - a...a - waste...waste
Wedne...wedne - day's...day's - I...I - go...go - out...yeah?
Oh nothing
Thursday's headache, and I deserve it
Friday's I go out, at least something
Hit, who's calling this a
Hit, well I deserve a
Hit, calling this a
Hit, I don't deserve it
The lyrics to The Wannadies's song "Hit" may seem like a simple list of days of the week and activities, but upon closer examination, they reveal a certain sense of ennui and dissatisfaction with life. The singer starts by acknowledging that Monday and Tuesday are no fun, and that Wednesday is only slightly better because they might go out and do something. On Thursday, however, the reality sets in and they have to deal with the consequences of going out the night before, hence the reference to a headache. Fridays are the one bright spot in the week, as the singer goes out and at least does something.
Throughout the song, the refrain of "Hit" is repeated, with the singer questioning who is calling this a hit and whether or not they deserve it. This can be interpreted in a few ways – perhaps the singer is referring to the party scene, where everyone's trying to be cool and popular and go to the most happening spots. Alternatively, it could be a commentary on the state of the music industry, where hits are manufactured and the definition of what makes a song successful is sometimes arbitrary.
Overall, the lyrics to "Hit" convey a sense of restlessness and dissatisfaction with the status quo, as the singer struggles to find meaning and purpose in their daily routine.

Underrated band that never got the recognition they deserved. Takes me back to my teenage years in 90's indie Britain. Loads of top bands about then. TFI was a brilliant show too.
Positive Change
I remember watching this as it happened. Blew my mind. I was in a band at the time and couldn't wait to flag it with my band mates. Also, it was the 90's, it was Friday, it was the weekend, and this performance roared us into 2 days of beautiful freedom!

Saw them live around this time and was standing around afterwards outside and they came out the back door and handed me a crate of beer which I struggled to carry home. Great band.
