That's All
The Wannadies Lyrics

It's hard to solve every mystery
I'm still a kid on a bike you see
About to conquer spring with new won speed
Amplify me
Can't stand the silence
Fired back at me
Might want to feel stardom
Just want to be cared for
That's all, cool
I'm so in love with a simple song
It makes me feel like nothing can go wrong
Even if there's not one word
It's the language that I want to learn
Amplify me
Can't stand the silence
Fired back at me
Don't want to be common
Might want to feel stardom
Just want to be cared for
That's all, cool
The Wannadies's song "That's All" speaks about the struggle of being in a relationship while trying to maintain your independence. The first two lines say, "It's hard to be both yours and free, It's hard to solve every mystery," which suggests the challenges of balancing a significant other's desires while trying to keep your own sense of self. The singer likens themselves to "a kid on a bike" who is experiencing a newfound sense of freedom and excitement, but also recognizes the difficulties that come with this new autonomy.
The lyrics "Can't stand the silence, Fired back at me" could refer to the push-and-pull of communication within a relationship. The singer may feel overwhelmed or smothered by their partner's attempts at constant communication, which can lead to feelings of frustration and conflict.
The chorus of the song mentions the desire to be cared for, but not necessarily wanting fame or fortune. They say, "Don't want to be common, Might want to feel stardom, Just want to be cared for, That's all, cool." This reflects a longing for intimacy, connection, and understanding that is separate from the external pressures of success or status.
Overall, "That's All" is a song that speaks to the complexities of relationships and the need for balance and understanding in order to thrive.
