Come to Me
The Wanton Bishops Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Come little girl
You've never seen
Sleep my child
On my chest
You the best

She was a country girl
Eyelid shells and the pearls
A farmer's daughter
Oh so giving

He was a monster
Black leather schemes
And high living

She had big city dreams
Heard his coyote screams
She had big city dreams

Come little girl
You've never seen
Sleep my child
On my chest
You the best

The bus ate up the highway
Rolling, hopes to convey
He dropped her off
At his dark dim alley

The place looks exciting
Somehow so inviting
A shrine for souls

She had big city dreams
Heard his coyote screams
She had big city dreams

Come little girl
You've never seen
Sleep my child
On my chest
You the best

She found the devil's lair
Down the rickety stairs
Exchanged hidden smiles

Lie down on the alter
The king is on his throne
The jeweled moon, the planets align
And the tide is going high

Come little girl
You've never seen
Sleep my child
On my chest
You the best

Come little girl
You've never seen
Sleep my child
On my chest
You the best

Come little girl
You've never seen
Sleep my child

On my chest
You the best

Overall Meaning

The Wanton Bishops' song "Come To Me" is a tale of a farmer's daughter with big city dreams who meets a seductive man with black leather schemes and high living. The lyrics suggest that the girl sleeps on the man's chest as they exchange hidden smiles and she lies down on the altar. The king is on his throne, the jeweled moon, the planets align, and the tide is going high. The song's chorus "Come little girl, you've never seen, sleep my child, on my chest, you the best" brings across a fatherly and almost sinister tone.

The lyrics describe the seduction of a naive and innocent girl by a man of questionable character. The girl falls for his charm and ends up in a dangerous situation. The song highlights themes of temptation, seduction, and innocence lost. The singer in the song is the seductive man, who sees the girl as a conquest and uses his charm to lure her into his web. The lyrics are powerful because they describe how an innocent soul can be corrupted by someone with selfish intentions.

WHY SO UNDERRATED DAMN

@willharris6750

These guys are too good. I especially love the fact that these two guys are from Lebanon, and yet they encompass the idea/feel/sound/ of American Blues so well. To be honest (with no disrespect) I'll admit before I had ever learned about the Wanton Bishops. I had thought they were Americans southerners from like Georgia or somewhere.

@CanaryBanditsNeon

Couldn't agree more and yet since I first heard them there hasn't been a day that I don't play a song or two!
