In The Night
The Weeknd Lyrics

All alone she was living
In a world without an end or beginning
Baby girl was living life for the feeling
But I don't mind, I don't mind
And all the wrongs she committed
She was numb and she was so co-dependent
She was young and all she had was the city
But I don't mind, I don't mind

And I know that she's capable of anything, it's riveting
But when you wake up she's always gone, gone, gone

In the night she hears him calling
In the night she's dancing to relieve the pain
She'll never walk away (I don't think you understand)
In the night when she comes crawling
Dollar bills and tears keep falling down her face
She'll never walk away (I don't think you understand)

He sang a song when he did it
He was cold and he was so unforgiving
Now she dances to the song on the minute
Yeah, all the time, all the time
It make her weak when she hear it
And it got her on her knees like religion
She was young and she was forced to be a woman
Yeah, all the time, all the time

And I know that she's capable of anything, it's riveting
But when you wake up she's always gone, gone, gone

In the night she hears him calling
In the night she's dancing to relieve the pain
She'll never walk away (I don't think you understand)
In the night when she comes crawling
Dollar bills and tears keep falling down her face
She'll never walk away (I don't think you understand)

I don't think you understand

In the night she hears him calling
In the night she's dancing to relieve the pain
She'll never walk away (I don't think you understand)
In the night when she comes crawling
Dollar bills and tears keep falling down her face
She'll never walk away (I don't think you understand)

I'm going to leave the lyrics of this masterpiece here because I do not want to see anybody in a concert without singing it.

This song hits home. I was groomed and sexually abused as a child. I didn't even know what sex is at that time, but i was conditioned to like it. I'm now an adult and i've been wanting to sell my body for sex these days because i think it's the only thing i'm good at.

I know it sounds impossible. Why would sexual abuse victims want to reenact their abuse? this is why the lyrics say "you'll never understand" because it's indeed hard for people to understand, but this issue does exist. People have different reactions to abuse and trauma.

what does your r@pe has to do with the song 😭

I have been through the same and have done the same. I am now going to therapy for it. Therapy can’t help everything and won’t do much but i knew I needed help.

I understand. My heart goes out to you, I hope you find the strength to turn that trauma and pain into something beautiful.. life has been hard for you but it gave you the tools to help others in the same situation. The world is yours, take back your power ♥️
