Aspiring musician and scenester Bob Markley managed to join the group the Laughing Wind in exchange for his connections in the music industry and substantial bankroll. The original five-piece line-up consisted of Michael Lloyd (rhythm guitar, vocals), Shaun Harris (bass guitar, vocals, Danny Harris (lead guitar, vocals), John Ware (drums), and Markley (tambourine, vocals). Although Markley possessed the least musical talent, his expertise in law enabled him to assume control of the group's name and publishing, which generated a divide in the WCPAEB's creative mindset.
The band debuted with the album Volume One in 1966 on the small FiFo record label. In the early years of the group, much was made of the WCPAEB's elaborate psychedelic light shows, which became the focal point of their live performances in Los Angeles. Following the release of Volume One, the WCPAEB signed with Reprise Records, recording three albums with the company, including arguably their most accomplished work Volume 3: A Child's Guide to Good and Evil in 1968. Two additional albums, Where's My Daddy? and Markley, A Group, were distributed on independent labels before the group disbanded in 1970.

She stood on the edge of my mind
I tried to push her away
I shut and locked the door
Her eyes grew large and asking
And the smell of incense filled her room
She stood in the ever present fullness
What happened to her childhood dreams?
The sidewalk smothers us
Tomorrow
And the smell of incense filled her room
She stood as still as the shadows of stone
She stood on the edge of my mind
I tried to push her away
I shut and locked the door
Her eyes grew large and asking
And the smell of incense filled her room
And the smell of incense filled her room
And the smell of incense filled her room
And the smell of incense filled her room
And the smell of incense filled her room
And the smell of incense filled her room
And the smell of incense filled her room
And the smell of incense filled her room
And the smell of incense filled her room
And the smell of incense filled her room
And the smell of incense
Smell of Incense by The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band is a song with cryptic lyrics, leaving a lot of room for interpretation. The song primarily focuses on the singer's struggle to push away a woman who is on the edge of his mind. However, the more he tries to push her away, the more her eyes widen, and their questioning gestures fill the air, almost as though she's pleading for him to let her in. The use of the sensory-driven imagery of incense adds depth to the lyrics, as the smell of incense fills up her room and acts as a metaphor representing this woman's strong presence.
The lyrics express melancholy, contemplative thoughts of longing, and the feeling of wanting to be understood. The singer tries to suppress his emotions and push them out of his mind, but the sensory imagery of the incense evokes his emotions, forces him to confront his feelings and makes him realize how futile it is to try and escape the woman's hold on his mind. In the second verse, the lyrics inquire what happened to her childhood dreams, signifying that the woman is holding onto something from the past that the singer has since forgotten or discarded.

My ex husband of 10 years co wrote that song, and played lead guitar on it. We were married for 10 years. We had one son. Thank you, if he read this he would cry that someone actually liked his old music. He was co writer of that song. Ron. Co-wrote this song.
