The White Buffalo is said to be a throwback to the time of hard touring, hard drinking artists who really lived what they sang about. Everything about him is big, from his imposing physical size to his amazing vocal range. He’s as comfortable playing in a dive bar as he is in front of thousands in a European arena.
The White Buffalo released his debut EP, The White Buffalo EP in 2005 to much critical acclaim. His later releases, including his debut album Hogtied Revisited (2009), Prepare for Black & Blue EP (2010) and second album Once Upon a Time in the West (2012) reached similar accliam.
The White Buffalo's song 'Wrong' was featured on the Taylor Steele/Keith Malloy surf movie 'Shelter'.
The White Buffalo joined the Forest Rangers to record a cover of 'House of the Rising Sun' by The Animals for the season 4 finale of Sons of Anarchy.

Well he dipped his balls in rock and roll
He dove head first into the deep
Live for the moment
Wild and free
Carry on dance too close
To the fire not the phone
Cause nobody's home
When you live life for the lust
Sometimes you get cuts to the bone
Sometimes you get keys to the throne
The neon lights are on parade
Tomorrow swerves into yesterday
No end in sight there's no last call
Just pills and pipes and alcohol
Carry on dance too close
To the fire not the phone
Radio silence don't call
Cause nobody's home
When you live life to the lust
Sometimes you get cuts to the bone
Sometimes you get Keys to the throne
Sometimes you've got
One foot in the grave
It reaches up and takes a hold
Masters quickly turn to slaves
Souls are bought souls are sold
Rocky creeps the streets unknown
No name no face just a ghost alone
The fix is in no longer free
There's no bringing rocky back to me
Carry on dance too close
To the fire not the phone
Radio silence don't call
Cause nobody's home
When you live life to the lust
Sometimes you get cuts to the bone
Sometimes you get Keys to the throne
Now he's got two feet in the grave
He dug himself too deep a hole
No dragons left to slay
Devil squeezed out all the hope
Only one God to obey
Reaches down and takes a hold
Now he can't get away
Now he's lost all control
Masters quickly turn to slaves
Streets run black and take him whole
Where souls are bought souls are sold
The song "Rocky" by The White Buffalo is a hard-hitting commentary on the price of pursuing a life of excess and addiction. The lyrics are about a man named Rocky who is said to have "sold his soul" by immersing himself in rock and roll, drugs, and alcohol. The opening lines of "They say Rocky sold his soul/Well, he dipped his balls in rock and roll" set the stage for a story about a man who has fully embraced a wild and free lifestyle, but at a great cost.
The chorus of the song, "Carry on dance too close/To the fire not the phone/Radio silence don't call/'Cause nobody's home", suggests that Rocky has isolated himself from his loved ones and is living from moment to moment, without any regard for the future. He is willing to take risks and dance with danger in pursuit of pleasure, but he is also aware that there are consequences to living this way. The lines "When you live life for the lust/Sometimes you get cuts to the bone/Sometimes you get keys to the throne" speak to the duality of Rocky's existence: sometimes he succeeds in finding fame and wealth, but other times he experiences deep pain and suffering.
As the song progresses, it becomes clear that Rocky's lifestyle has caught up with him. The lines "Now he's got two feet in the grave/He dug himself too deep a hole/No dragons left to slay/Devil squeezed out all the hope" suggest that he has lost control of his life and is now trapped in a cycle of addiction and despair. The final lyrics, "Streets run black and take him whole/Where souls are bought, souls are sold", suggest that Rocky is no longer in control of his fate and is at the mercy of the harsh streets.

By far the best concert I've been to. He has topped Ryan Bingham, Clint Black, Ian Tyson, Tom Russell, and Merle Haggard in terms of performance. It'd be rad to drink a beer with Jake Smith. Support this BAMF.
