After releasing several singles and three albums within the Detroit independent music underground, The White Stripes rose to prominence in 2002, as part of the garage rock revival scene. Their successful albums White Blood Cells and Elephant drew them attention from a large variety of media outlets in the United States and the United Kingdom.
The White Stripes used a low-fidelity, do-it-yourself approach to writing and recording. Their music features a melding of punk and blues influences and a raw simplicity of composition, arrangement, and performance. The duo is also noted for their fashion and design aesthetic which features a simple color scheme of red, white, and black.
The White Stripes' discography consists of six studio albums, two extended plays (EP), one video album, 26 singles and fourteen music videos. The band has sold approximately 12 million albums worldwide, 2 million in the US alone, and their latest three albums have each won a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album.
On February 2, 2011, the band announced on their website that they had disbanded.

Sugar Never Taster So Good
The White Stripes Lyrics

Sugar never tasted so good
Sugar never tasted good to me
Yeah
Until her eyes crossed over
Until her mind crossed over
Until her soul fell next to me
Now
If the wrinkle that is in your brain
Has given ya quite a sting
Your fingers have become a crane
Pullin' on these puppet strings
What a feelin' that's begun
What a feelin' that's begun
What a feelin' that's begun
What a feelin' that's begun
I felt just like a baby
Until I held a baby
What a fool this boy can be
Yeah
And her thoughts like a daisy
Till my mind gets lazy
I must have been crazy not to see
Now
If the wrinkle that is in your brain
Has given ya quite a sting
Your fingers have become a crane
Your fingers have become a crane
Your fingers have become a crane
Pullin' on these puppet strings
Water never tasted so good
Water never tasted so good
Water never tasted good to me
The White Stripes' song 'Sugar Never Tasted So Good' is a song about the transformative power of love. This track is a representation of how love can change a person completely. The opening line itself, "sugar never tasted so good," is the singer's way of saying that he has never felt this way before. The lyrics are referring to a person who may have felt that love was not desirable, but upon meeting their significant other, they realized the sweetness of love. The song is about the "feelings that have begun" since falling in love.
As the song progresses, the lyrics become more complex, and the singer talks about how he felt like a "baby" until he held a baby. This line is possibly referring to holding his newborn child and how it has changed his perception of life. He is now a new person, feeling odd about how he did not understand the joys of love before experiencing it.
The second half of the song repeats the chorus from the beginning, but now the lyrics are shifted towards Water instead of Sugar. The line, "your fingers have become a crane," describes how much control love has over him. He is powerless when it comes to this feeling, just like a puppet.
Overall, the track is a tribute to the fascinating experience of discovering love, and how it can transform the most jaded individuals into loving people bursting with new joy.
