A three-part harmony-driven band, the trio has toured California multiple times playing festivals such as Make Music Pasadena, Echo Park Rising, Claremont Folk Festival, Lightning in a Bottle, and successfully captured large audiences every Monday night in December with their Holiday Residency at The Satellite.
In 2014 the band released their formal debut album, Blind and Brave, produced by Raymond Richards at Red Rockets Glare (Parson Redheads, Honey Honey, Local Natives, Dustbowl Revival). The album release kicked off during a very special show at the historic Troubadour.
Blind and Brave illustrates the story of the working class, and encourages listeners to genuinely care about the place they inhabit, keep it beautiful, connect with people, and be brave. The message found in these songs is that you have to get through the hard stuff to get to the good stuff, just as you have to go through the bad parts of town to find the best parts, whether it be a venue down an old dark alley way, or a friend’s house at the top of a hill. In everything you do, do it out of love.
With their debut album released, and a bright future ahead, we can only expect great things from The Wild Reeds. They joined Newport Folk Festival’s sister of the west, Way Over Yonder with artists such as Jackson Brown, Local Natives, Lucinda Williams.

It's the last time I saw your eyes
I've forgetten their color, their shape, and their flutter
It's been that long since you looked in mine.
And there's a lover in my head,
And there's a stranger in my bed,
And I won't know until the morning comes
You started to lose all your color and all your prove
And I've wondered if you've moved on.
Those brown eyes in the morn,
That t-shirt I adore,
That terrible haircut.
And there's a lover in my head,
And there's a stranger in my bed.
I thought i knew those eyes,
But there's a foreigner inside
You see I had this thought that we'd pick up where we left off,
But it turns out I was a fool.
When I came to visit you,
I barely recognized you and your new neighborhood.
And there's a lover in my head,
And there's a strnager in my bed.
I thought I knew those eyes,
But there's a foreigner inside.
And there's a lover in my head,
And there's a stranger in my bed.
I thought I knew his eyes,
But there's a foreigner inside.
The Wild Reeds's song "Foreigner" is a melancholic ode to lost love and the feeling of disconnection that comes with it. The song's lyrics describe the singer's struggle to come to terms with a break-up and the emotional aftermath of it. The opening lines set the tone of the song, with the singer lamenting the fact that they can no longer recognize the person they once loved. The metaphor of the cup is used to describe their former partner's distancing and withdrawal, and the singer's inability to connect with them anymore.
The chorus finds the singer struggling with the feelings of seeing someone new in their ex's life. The conflicting emotions of love and heartbreak are evident as they describe the new person as a "lover" in their head and a "stranger" in their bed. The singer's sense of isolation is palpable throughout the song, with the use of the word "foreigner" evoking feelings of being an outsider in a world that was once familiar.
The final verse finds the singer confronting the harsh reality of their lost love. They had hoped to pick up where they left off, but the new person in their ex's life has made it clear that those feelings are now gone. The use of "his eyes" in the final line also speaks to the idea of being replaced and left behind, adding to the overall sense of despair that runs through the song.
Overall, "Foreigner" is a poignant and relatable look at the aftermath of love lost, with The Wild Reeds's haunting harmonies and evocative lyrics combining to deliver a powerful emotional punch.
