A three-part harmony-driven band, the trio has toured California multiple times playing festivals such as Make Music Pasadena, Echo Park Rising, Claremont Folk Festival, Lightning in a Bottle, and successfully captured large audiences every Monday night in December with their Holiday Residency at The Satellite.
In 2014 the band released their formal debut album, Blind and Brave, produced by Raymond Richards at Red Rockets Glare (Parson Redheads, Honey Honey, Local Natives, Dustbowl Revival). The album release kicked off during a very special show at the historic Troubadour.
Blind and Brave illustrates the story of the working class, and encourages listeners to genuinely care about the place they inhabit, keep it beautiful, connect with people, and be brave. The message found in these songs is that you have to get through the hard stuff to get to the good stuff, just as you have to go through the bad parts of town to find the best parts, whether it be a venue down an old dark alley way, or a friend’s house at the top of a hill. In everything you do, do it out of love.
With their debut album released, and a bright future ahead, we can only expect great things from The Wild Reeds. They joined Newport Folk Festival’s sister of the west, Way Over Yonder with artists such as Jackson Brown, Local Natives, Lucinda Williams.
Where I'm Going
The Wild Reeds Lyrics

the truth is I haven't got a clue
one thing I know where I'm going
there won't be another you
and that don't mean that I found another man
and that don't mean that I'll fall in love again
where this ship is sailing
it don't need a captain of the crew
the tracks lead me far away from you
and that don't mean that I'll find another man
and that don't mean that I'll fall in love again
you see, love is a choice every morning
not some fuzzy feeling in the room
I never needed your company
but I surely longed for you
yeah I surely long for you
I'm not running from a home we built for two
I'm chasing the winds, I'm leaving on whims and I'm learning a thing or two
you see i'm not running from a home we built for two
I'm chasing the winds, i'm leaving on whims and i'm learning a thing or two
yeah, you think you know where I'm going
the truth is you haven't got a clue
and i never needed your company
but i surely longed for you
i surely long for you
The Wild Reeds's song Where I'm Going is a heartfelt exploration of the complexities of love and the tumultuous journey of self-discovery. The song begins with the singer addressing someone who thinks they know where she is going, but she admits that she is uncertain herself. She knows that one thing is certain, however, and that is that there won't be another person like them. The singer clarifies that this does not mean that she has found someone else or that she will fall in love again, but rather, she is venturing into the unknown and leaving the past behind.
Throughout the song, there is a sense of longing for something that may no longer be possible. The singer acknowledges that love is a choice every morning and that it is not just a feeling - it requires effort and commitment. Even though she never needed the company of the other person, she craves the warmth and comfort of their presence. However, she is pursuing her dreams and traveling beyond the horizon, leaving behind the past and embracing the unknown. The repetition of the phrase "I'm chasing the winds, I'm leaving on whims and I'm learning a thing or two" emphasizes the sense of adventure and discovery that accompanies the journey of self-discovery.
Overall, The Wild Reeds's Where I'm Going captures the complexity of love and the uncertainty of life's journeys. It is a powerful reminder that sometimes, the only way to move forward is to let go of the past and embrace the unknown.
