Christmas
The Williams Brothers Lyrics

Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
(I'm dreaming of a white Christmas ooh, ooh, ooh)
With every Christmas card I write (ooh, ooh, ooh)
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white
The Williams Brothers's song White Christmas speaks of the singer's longing for a Christmas filled with snow and memories of childhood. The first verse of the song describes the idyllic setting of a white Christmas, where treetops glisten and children listen for sleigh bells in the snow. The use of the word "dreaming" indicates that this idealized version of Christmas is not a reality for the singer, but rather a romanticized memory.
The second verse mentions the act of sending Christmas cards, a common practice during the holiday season. The singer states that with every card they write, they are imagining a white Christmas for the recipient. The final two lines of the verse serve as a wish for the reader, hoping that their days are merry and bright, and that all of their Christmases are filled with snow.
The repetitive nature of the chorus emphasizes the singer's desire for a white Christmas and reinforces the idea that this is not currently happening. Overall, the song portrays a nostalgia for childhood and a yearning for a Christmas that may only exist in the singer's imagination.
