Inhaling smoke can cause cancer and other illnesses.
Reefer breaks some ppl, gives them psychosis, can fuck your mind up, give you an early onstet of schizophrenia and other mental illnesses.

Depersonalization, panic attacks, apathy, demotivation, these things can really impact someone's life and they can be side effets of reefer.

Not to mention that a dip mental clarity, loss of clear thinking and reaction speed causes people to have accidents. But then again, they shouldn't smoke if they have responsibilities.

Weed definitely fucked a lot of people up. My guess is that you like to get high so you point at something else to mark as the devil.

But what it comes down to is people. Society is not responsible enough, and plastering our hurt or stressed brains with external chemicals wether that be synthetic or organic is not the way forward in the long run.

The enemy is you, it's your mind, everyone's minds. There is no enemy, just bad choices and risky actions.

That said all substances ingested into the body are harmful in some respect. Ask your liver. It has to stop what it's doing to remove the crap from the bloodstream. Prohibited drugs in the UK are those used in medicine.Generally available on prescription that are issued to stop the misuse. Laws were introduced to control opiates and marijana. Like prohibition in the US on alcohol it was a failure. They should be freely available to all who require them. The stronger the better. Any resultent addiction,psychological or physical problems the responsibility of the consumer. At least it would be a quick death.

I was sentenced to 10 years federal prison time for growing marijuana in my garage at home. I had never been to jail. The DEA took all the valuables cars trucks motorcycles tools and equipment/everything. Then the looters came and took what was left. My home became a dump site it cost $10,000 in dump fees to clean up the trash. I served my sentence in prison/terminal island federal corrections. Prison will change you. Locked in a 10x10 cell will make you crazy as shit. My bunky was a bank robber 17 banks, I came out a jacked convict/animal. Im 64 now and still bench 300 lbs 10 times. I knew the penalty and did the crime anyway. The people in my neighborhood are afraid of me treat me like I am a gangster. I don't blame them. I see myself in the mirror and I look hard as a coffin nail. I still have a kind heart and I don't blame law enforcement.

You are an amazing person to have gone through all that and not have become embittered, and you certainly have my respect. I used to work in a state court system, and several of our judges advanced an alternative to incarceration on drug charges. It was considered unthinkable, controversial and was angrily challenged by many members of the public, but was supported by our police and DA's and these compassionate and great judges. It soon became obvious that it was working, and remains hugely successful today. I know it's not much solace in your case, but our Judges saw the disruption and destruction that incarceration on non-violent drug charges did to the convicts, and their families, and particularly how it messed up their kids lives. I frequently attended these regularly scheduled and very celebratory events, wherein we would have perhaps 50-60 people that had been arrested and convicted but were placed into this program instead of jail, and also with their family members in the audience. The would-have-been inmates were invited to this event at the time when they had completed one year of sobriety, A judge would introduce each one of them, and ask each to separately come up to the podium and address the crowd about their experience, and then show their one year old mugshot and a days old picture of themselves on a large monitor. The results were almost always dramatic and emotionally evocative, and sometimes absolutely shocking. Even the judges often shed tears of joy. Then everyone there would line up for a a generous serving of several huge birthday cakes, ice cream and a beverage. At that point all their charges had been dropped and their records cleared.
If nothing else, the experience that you and many others endured, demonstrated the very real need for compassion, understanding and an evolution of the justice system, and that has led us now to a proven approach that truly works, which has since spread across many US states. Thank you for your sacrifice that helped shed light on the unjust system we had before all this, and all the since never-convicted, their significant others and their kids whose lives are now valued and have been undisturbed as a result. You and the others like you are their unsung heroes. Take care, my friend

I'm 35, almost everyone I've met in my life, who uses/used weed for years, has very noticeable side effects! The addiction part is undeniable. Rather than spending their money on important things, they buy weed, even if they are really poor. They also seem to constantly forget things. They have a cocky attitude and claim to know it all. Most things they talk about are not very smart. They never achieve goals they set up or are slow at doing so. They become extremely offensive if u show medical journals proving weed is bad for ur brain, then they proceed to make false scientific claims without any proof to back them up.
And now my own gf is hooked too. Says things like "I will slow down/ or quit" but just like a smoker or an alcoholic, she does neither.

My gateway drug was Adderall which was forced down my throat in elementary school. They stole my happiness and weed was all I had to somewhat restore it. Then they locked me up for weed and ruined my life, Let me out and made it legal so they could make money. Then people including my family called my a drug addict for taking adderall and claim that “everyone gets distracted and that I don’t need it” so I quit it.

As a nurse who takes care of people who do all types of drugs, I can attest that alcohol is the worst. When people withdraw from it, it's violent, deadly and usually requires critical care. If someone comes in just stoned as hell, they're either super paranoid, sleepy or both and just need a stretcher and maybe a fluid bolus if they've been vomiting too much. I'd rather care for potheads than crackheads or drinkers. The later is violent, both physically and verbally.

More and more people forget things, they sure do, I am 71 and I've noticed it very much. And people usually don't start using something that is much stronger than pot, they use pot and then try something else. Pot after so many years for many results in people losing their drive and losing their edge. About 1935, Liquor store owners were incensed over this development and mounted a campaign to pressure politicians to pass laws to make marijuana illegal. The thing is, not only did I know him well (his habits of burning a couple down before heading home) but my aunt (other side of my family) was on the ambulance crew on scene, she told me afterwards that they "removed" a small baggie with weed in it so that would never be disclosed publically. Small town life, everyone loved my uncle too. I still think of him a lot. He was a super good dude.

And in a little town, that kinda stuff isn't made public, so imagine how many other people have similar life events like mine that go unreported. I'm guessing a lot. If he hadn't have smoked up, he wouldn't have fallen asleep, and he'd be 71 if still alive so I'd like to think he'd still be with us, although his wife (my dad's little sister) Beth passed away from complications to diabetes when she was 69, back in 2020.

I’m really out there and I can’t focus on what I’m doing. I can’t think right. I tried to drive a car one time while high and I just couldn’t do it. My early years of smoking weed, I honestly didn't have an idea of what tf i was doing, it was like acting mad for a while but then I noticed my goons would smoke more than a J and I'd wish I did more or similar making me go pass my limit. The one's that owned oil refineries lobbied politicians to outlaw alcohol on the grounds of it being immoral but in reality, it was to end their competition for fueling cars. That's a fact and your diatribe won't ever change that, also, of all the people I know who use, my self being one, I don't know anyone who's "addicted" Almost everyone I know has stopped for various reason and started again. As someone who started smoking marijuana at 15 and I am now 59 I got to say all of this is irrelevant to me. I don't care if they make it legal or illegal I'm going to be doing the same thing I've been doing since I was 15. I guess I should point out the fact that I've never been caught with so much as a roach. That's right folks 45 years of smoking marijuana whenever the hell I want and no cop has ever arrested me. I don't drive around with it in my car I don't walk around outside with it in my pocket. I don't hang out with broke people that can't afford weed so when I go to their house all of my friends have it. Only idiots get caught with marijuana. Don't allow the government to put their thumb on your life. Do what the hell you want just be responsible and stay out of the camera's eye with it.

Some people struggle with common sense. That's one of the reasons the jails are so full. Not only have I never been arrested for marijuana but I've also never had a DUI in my 59 years of life. I used to drink like a fish. I just never did something as stupid as getting behind the wheel of a car after I drank. This is simple. Everyone just needs to take responsibility for themselves and their actions. If you want to walk around with marijuana because you're so addicted that you can't stand being without it... I began supporting the legalization of marijuana in 2004 following the death of my wife to alcohol in 2003. She was a veteran and just 42-years-old. She used to get me a joint on my birthday saying it was the only day of the year that she could get me to truly relax. I'm a veteran with some Autism and thanks to her assistance, I used my college education and was published many times until her death. I make videos to relax and practice music therapy too. I'm a veteran and I'm allowed to use weed for my medication instead of opioids and I took myself off of their medications, some of which I'm allergic to. No, marijuana is not addictive, but it is habit forming. There's much more, but I don't have all day to write it. I have Autism and makes me a pretty difficult writer to work with, unless I'm using edibles or smoking a joint so I can cope with people who don't think like I do. My psychology report says I gotta find a way to work with others without offending them and that's difficult. Some folks have tried to get me fired and that never works since I run the studio. Two American drug suppliers pushed to have cannabis made illegal. They supplied alcohol and tobacco and wanted no competition. I'm 59 I've worked since I was 17 payed my taxes etc. For all this period I have used cannabis to relieve physical pain and induce a feeling of peace. Cannabis isn't right for everyone but everythings like that but we don't ban everything that can cause harm.

I hated weed I saw it as a bad because of all the teachers and principals telling me it’s bad. 1 month after graduating I tried it and it was not bad at all. It relaxed me and made happy. I’m 43. Been smoking since I was 16. Had a bad time with it while going through a mental illness stage and didn’t smoke for 15 years.

Now I’m able to enjoy a joint once or twice a week and enjoy an edible occasionally.

Marijuana should definitely be legalised but please don’t smoke it or do any other drugs if suffering mental illness.

Most everything vice wise is not actually great for your body (i.e. smoking, drinking, skydiving etc.). Cannabis at least has the benefit of having SOME medicinal uses (anxiety, ptsd, hunger stimulant for cancer patients, nausea, etc.). Also, not sure your social circles, but damn near all my friends use cannabis to some degree and in some form. One is currently a doctor, another runs a very successful restaurant, I am currently in school after leaving a well paying job albeit very stressful. Cannabis is not the issue, it is the personality of the person who is using it. Lazy person? They will be lazy with cannabis as well. Addictive personality? Addicted with cannabis as well (although I'd be grateful they weren't introduced into heroin, meth, or coke). Personally I get quite a lot accomplished after a good smoke session. For instance skirting on my house and metal roof last year. Drainage in my driveway, crusher run after the drainage was finished. IF your motivated your motivated and if your prerogative is to sit inside all day and be lazy (speaking to all the people you know) cannabis isn't going to fix that. So should your girlfriend back off a bit? Probably. Ideally we should all be on the straight and narrow, but life is messy and stressful. At least cannabis makes it slightly less so for the short time we are here. All stated with peace and love man. Wishing you the best, just wanted to clarify some points. 😊

I've been smoking it for years! Got my green card here in WA years ago. With Fibromyalgia and Arthritis and several back surgeries, it's my only pain control. To say is the gateway to other drugs is a Fallacy. I don't do drugs. Nor do I have a desire to. For many, it's not a quest to just get high. Cotton clothing is made of a 1 inch fiber, which as we all know wears out pretty quickly, although we all love it. Hemp clothing is made of much longer fibers, even as much as 6 feet long, or longer, depending where it grew and how tall the plant was. This should be a much longer lasting piece of clothing. Marijuana rub is wonderful for arthritis pain. Give it a couple of days to kick into effect. This is made not from the bud, but from the leaves, which you could smoke, but it is harsh, so why not use it for something practical and pain relieving? You can turn the sticks into a spray, which also relieves pain, if you don`t put them into your compost or wood stove., you ay as well do something helpful with them. Most of us have waited 50 years for the legality of marijuana. It`s about time. Some of us don`t even smoke the stuff anymore, we just rub it on our aches and pains. I wish it had been legal when my mother was so sick w/cancer. You can make marijuana butter and put it on your pop corn or mashed potatos just before bed for amazing dreams and a heavy night sleep.

The marijuana rub you speak of obviously contains thc, as the cbd oil is as useful as a chocolate teapot with regards to pain relief.
Speaking from personal experience, you understand, having tried cbd for over a year with the blessings of my rheumatology team and GP.
Could have saved myself time, money and hope.
Interferon, used to cure five types of cancer from the early '80s onwards, is actually a synthetic form of cannabis.
I was informed of this by a specialist I attended for duodenal ulcers, back in the day, upon confessing having a puff actually gave me no small measure of relief.
I haven't smoked in many years, but believe it acts as a preventative for many who do, yet remain ignorant of it's medical benefits and I'd sooner see it legalised above alcohol among young men, as it would lead to a drop in prison populations for possession, but, more importantly, less crimes of violence.

I had high anxiety levels all through childhood and my teenage years. I began smoking dope, as we called back then in the late 70s in Australia, and thoroughly enjoyed the feeling. We used to laugh our heads off and the music sounded so much better. I personally should not have taken it because after a while it made me more anxious and suspicious. I already had issues as mentioned and smoking just made it worse. Having said that, good luck with the new laws. If you can function in life and handle your responsibilies, then go right ahead. For me, taking nothing is good.

I have a theory.
Marijuana was prohibited just prior to television technology being introduced to the public. Television has been proven to be the most effective social psychology conditioning tool to date.
It was discovered earlier that Marijuana was effective at disrupting psychological programming. Whether the programming was beneficial (studies etc) OR hostile (deceitful propaganda).
The fact that it's becoming legalized now show show that the television programming has been far more effective than anticipated.
