Come Back My Love
The Wrens (Doo-Wop) Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Oh-oh, come back my love, don't run away
Come back my love, oh come back to stay
I love you so, well I want you to know
I need your love so badly

Well, you said goodbye, I wondered why
All because of those silly lies
I love you so, well I want you to know
I need your love so badly

Well, everybody makes
Mistakes in the game of romance
I'm asking you darling
Why don't you come back and give me a chance

Come back my love, don't stay away
I need your loving every day
I love you so, well I want you to know
I need your love so badly

Well, everybody makes
Ooh, mistakes in the game of romance
Now, I'm asking you darling
Why don't you come back and give me a chance

Come back my love, don't stay away
I need your loving every day
I love you so, well I want you to know
I need your love so badly

Well, everybody makes
Ooh, mistakes in the game of romance
Now, I'm asking you darling
Why don't you come back and give me a chance

Come back my love, don't stay away
I need your loving every day
I love you so, well I want you to know

I need your love so badly
'Cause I need your love so badly

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to The Wrens (Doo-Wop)'s song "Come Back My Love" are an earnest plea from the singer to their lost love. The song opens with the repeated phrase "come back my love" which serves as the refrain throughout the song. The singer begs their love not to run away and to come back and stay with them. They express how much they love and need their partner, and how they can't imagine life without them.

The second verse references a breakup, and the confusion and pain that the singer feels at the sudden end to their relationship. They struggle to understand why their partner would leave, especially over "silly lies". The chorus repeats the same message, with the singer emphasizing how much they need their love to return.

The bridge acknowledges that mistakes are made in the game of romance and asks why their partner won't give them another chance. The song closes with a repetition of the chorus and the final plea for their love to come back, because the singer needs them so badly.

Overall, "Come Back My Love" is a classic doo-wop love song that conveys a sense of longing and heartbreak. The repeated chorus and melancholic melody help to emphasize the singer's desperate need for their lost love to return to them.

I love this more than any other song from the early doo-wop period. This is smoother and more soulful than the brassier competing version by the Cardinals.

Wrennissima! Doo-wop grandeur.

@DoowopJohnnyBoy

I formed a Doowop group in 2013 in 2017 we recorded 7 songs a cover of the Crows Gee and 6 of our own I wrote and recorded a song with the group called “No one else will do” and this was the inspiration.
