April In Paris
Thelonious Monk Lyrics

Jump to: Line by Line Meaning ↴

Coba tanya hatimu sekali lagi
Sebelum engkau benar-benar pergi
Masihkah ada aku di dalamnya?
Karena hatiku masih menyimpanmu
Kisah kita memang baru sebentar
Namun kesan terukir sangat indah
Aku memang bukan manusia sempurna
Tapi tak pernah berhenti mencoba

Melihatmu tersenyum
Walau tak pernah berbalas
Bahagiamu juga bahagiaku

Saat kau terlalu rapuh
Pundak siapa yang tersandar?
Tangan siapa yang tak melepas?
Ku yakin aku
Bahkan saat kau memilih
Untuk meninggalkan aku
Tak pernah lelah menanti
Karena ku yakin kau akan kembali

Ada engkau dalam setiap doaku
Sungguh aku rindu berbagi tawa
Kini kita tidak saling menyapa
Biarlah hanya dari kejauhan

Melihatmu tersenyum
Walau tak pernah berbalas
Bahagiamu juga bahagiaku

Saat kau terlalu rapuh
Pundak siapa yang tersandar?
Tangan siapa yang tak melepas?
Ku yakin aku
Bahkan saat kau memilih
Untuk meninggalkan aku
Tak pernah lelah menanti

karena ku yakin kau akan kembali
Masih ber harap
Karena ku yakin kau akan kembali

My Dad played this record all the time when I was very young..I loved it..

They're playing this tune in C concert, which perfectly fits under the hands. Many of the chromatic runs are from Art Tatum, but I don't mind because we've all been influenced by Monk sometimes more than by anyone else. His counterpoint is excellent, after you've heard it his way, it's difficult to hear it very much differently after that. Thanks and best

Charles Barry

Monk's greatest contributions are his compositions. His piano voicings are unique and suitable for his compositions. A European musician tried to remove what he called wrong notes from on Monk's compositions and virtually destroyed the songs. Hail the only saxophonist to truly understand Monk. His name? Charlie Rouse.

Charles Barry, wrong notes?! That's hilarious! Monks insight to use of time and of passing notes, sometimes off-key are what his genius is. Only a fool would try to correct a master. And Monk was one of the few masters. Makes me kind of want to hear the "corrected" version. Though I think I'd do better to listen to the Muzak channel.

It was a spoof. I think you can find it somewhere on youtube.

Charles Barry

What I said was a European musiciam removed what HE thought were WRONG notes. I never said that Monk played wrong notes.

I think Steve Lacy had a pretty good understanding of Monk's music.

Saw him in Manchester England in 1961. I still have his LP record. Those were the days of real musicians and songs with melodies and feeling.

Of course in the fifties and sixties there were people who didn't like Monk's music because the ' the days of real musicians' were when they were young.
