Once you said you loved me
Placed no one above me
Prayed for me to make that vow
What dumb thing did I say
So busy being blasé
How I wish you'd ask me now
I was vain and bind then
Prone to be unkind then
Wish they'd turn back time somehow
Then I was audacious
I ignored what was precious
How I wish you'd ask me now
I thought then I'd always be
Footloose and fancy free
How could I have been so blind
What I once made light of turned out to be true lve
Once my ego ruled me
Flattered me and fooled me
More times than the laws allow
You asked me could I care
My attention was elsewhere
How I wish you'd ask me now

It's like someone asking how you feel. Then you play this amazing tune, and after you're finished playing it,you say "ask me now". If they were listening ,I mean really listening,...and knowing what they know about you, they would hear the pains, joys, dreams that never came true, past hopes that were dashed,etc.....that you could never put into words, but COULD be expressed in a piece of music that is as sublime as this wonderful composition by Monk.

if I could carry a piano to go out, I wouldn't need to talk anymore

he plays it so vigorous you can hear every note clearly...every consonance, and dissonance...the music transcends really

Listening to a piece of music is just like looking at a photo. The dissonant chords is what makes the whole piece stand out. Don't just focus on the dissonant chord, focus on how the dissonant chord accompanies the melody and see the beauty of it.

I know I've heard this before, like in a movie, or something along those lines.

Anyways, Monk's ridiculously clean flourishes, and insane amount of dissonance make him have his own original sound. That's pretty hard to do, considering the fact that it's a piano. Though he was a weird guy, he's still a wondrous icon, not necessarily just to jazz, but to music, and to piano players across the globe.
