Theme Park is one of the most exciting new songwriting forces in our midst today, managing to attain that rare balance of feeling comfortingly familiar and yet not sounding like anyone else.
The four piece were formed by twin brothers Miles & Marcus Haughton earlier this year and quickly enrolling the service of old friend Oscar Manthorpe (guitar) as well as recruiting Ric Hollingbery (bass) and Phil Jordan for the drums. They are currently working on their first full length via Transgressive Records.

lives in jamaica, sha-mone
kiss my bad self
theres a drink you can try,
summer, bummer, sha-mone
we can heal the world
bo bop do we wop stinka kinka sha-mone
lets do the hoke coke
The lyrics to Theme Park's song "Jamaica" convey the excitement and carefree attitude of summertime, where the singer's girlfriend's car is apparently located in Jamaica. The use of the phrase "sha-mone" throughout the song adds to the playful and carefree nature, and the singer suggests that they should enjoy themselves by trying a drink and doing the "hoke coke." Overall, the lyrics appear to be about embracing life and living in the moment, without any worries or concerns.
One interesting fact about "Jamaica" is that it features a sample from the Jackson 5's 1972 hit "Corner of the Sky." The sample of the phrase "bo bop do we wop stinka kinka" is used throughout the chorus of "Jamaica." Another interesting fact is that the music video for the song was shot in various locations in Jamaica, including Kingston and Port Antonio. Additionally, the song was produced by Luke Smith, who has worked with artists such as Foals and Depeche Mode.
The song was released in 2013 as part of Theme Park's debut self-titled album. It received positive reviews from music critics and helped to establish the band as an up-and-coming indie pop act. Another interesting fact is that the band members originally met while attending university in Nottingham. They later moved to London to pursue their music career.
The chords for "Jamaica" are as follows (for guitar):
Verse: Bb, Dm, Gm, F
Chorus: Bb, Gm, F, C
Overall, "Jamaica" is a fun and upbeat song that captures the essence of summer and carefree living. Its use of sampling and playful lyrics make it a unique contribution to the indie pop genre.
