Dopamine Seratonin Adrenaline
Therapy? Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

God give me strength
God make me well
God take me somewhere
Anywhere but here

One cure fits all

Dopamine, seratonin and adrenaline
Dopamine, seratonin and adrenaline
Dopamine, seratonin and adrenaline
Dopamine, seratonin and adrenaline

Fill my mornings with light
And my nights with hope
Make me realise
What I have is more

One cure fits all

Dopamine, seratonin and adrenaline
Dopamine, seratonin and adrenaline
Dopamine, seratonin and adrenaline
Dopamine, seratonin and adrenaline

Scientists have discovered a biochemical link between the overwhelming state of love, drug addiction and violence. These emotions are actually controlled by three very powerful drugs: dopamine, seratonin and adrenaline. There is a connection between drug addiction, mental illness and love at first sight.

So scared of dying
I've forgotten how to live

So scared of dying
I've forgotten how to live

So scared of dying
I've forgotten how to live

So scared of dying

Dopamine, seratonin and adrenaline
Dopamine, seratonin and adrenaline

Dopamine, seratonin and adrenaline
Dopamine, seratonin and adrenaline

Overall Meaning

The song "Dopamine Seratonin Adrenaline" by Therapy? explores the idea of searching for a cure or a way out of a difficult situation. The lyrics express a plea for help to God, to give strength and create a way out of the current state of being. The repetition of the phrase "one cure fits all" suggests a desire for something that could solve all problems, and the mention of dopamine, serotonin and adrenaline reveals that the search may be for a chemical solution, rather than a spiritual or emotional one. The song touches on the idea that addiction and mental health issues may be related to the same chemicals that make people fall in love, and that these emotions can be overwhelming and difficult to control. The final lines express a fear of death and a loss of meaning in life, which may be related to the search for a cure.

Overall, the song shows how difficult it can be to deal with overwhelming emotions and mental health issues. It highlights the way people may look for a quick fix, rather than seeking out more complex and difficult solutions. The lyrics suggest a yearning for something more, and a frustration that the answer may not be easy to find.

If you've ever been locked up in a psychiatric hospital for months, bullied and tortured and ultimately developed suicidal thoughts, you have a special relationship with this fantastic song

When interviewed about their latest album Disquiet, Andy stated that much of the material was gathered from his experiences growing up in Northern Ireland. The one song I most relate to is Still Hurts. As a survivor of child physical and emotional abuse, I was able to really connect to the lyrics of the song.

I do not really know why, and cannnot figure it out yet that whenever I listen and watch this, it sends shivers down my spine. It is a song that, although it is not the greatest rock tune ever made, has a deep effect. I saw this band many years ago, but they did not played this one, because they had just released Infernal Love, a cool album by the way.
