And the living is easy
Fish are jumpin'
And the cotton is high
Ohh your daddy's rich
And your mamma's good lookin'
You're gonna rise up singin'
Then you'll spread your wings
And you'll take to the sky
Welll but 'till that morning
There ain't nothing gonna harm you
Oh with mommy and daddy
Standin' by
Oh summertime
Yeah boemmaemma and the living is easy
So hush little baby don't you cry
The song "Summertime" by Theresa Sokyrka is a jazz classic that paints a picture of a carefree and blissful summer. The opening line, "Summertime and the livin' is easy," sets the tone for the rest of the song, which describes the simple pleasures of summer. The imagery of jumping fish and high cotton evoke a sense of abundance and happiness.
The second stanza of the song takes on a lullaby-like quality, with the soothing words of a mother or caregiver reassuring the listener that they are safe and loved. The mention of the listener's rich father and good-looking mother may imply a privileged upbringing, adding to the sense of security and comfort.
The final stanza of the song returns to the theme of rising up and spreading one's wings, suggesting that despite the carefree nature of summer, there is still a sense of growth and potential. The repeating line "till that morning" emphasizes the idea that there is always a brighter future to look forward to.
Overall, "Summertime" is a celebration of the joys of summer and the comfort of a loving family.

MS Sokyrka has a super voice, this standard is amazing with her, but I think her Ukrainian folk songs are the best ;-)

What ever happened to her? I remember really liking her when I was a kid, but she kinda disappeared. Her voice is incredible.
