“Supple, layered rock with a taste for the epic. Pulsating electro shadings subtly counter the dazed guitar and transcendent lyric” The Daily Mirror
“Absolutely love it. This is a Janice Loves”. Janice Long BBC Radio 2
These Reigning Days first received acclaim supporting Mercury darlings Metronomy and have rapidly gained a reputation as a powerful and impressive live act. They are currently being championed by BBC Introducing which has led to National BBC Radio airplay. As a result of a barnstorming performance in LA at Musexpo recently, they have significant label, publishing and sync interest and have been booked to play the main stage at Polish Woodstock in front of 500,000 people.
Their music has been described as anthemic, epic stadium rock, fusing layers of strong but understated guitar lines with a twisting, indie-pop synth sound quietly driving the compositions. Drawing on a great range of influences their songs, penned by Dan Steer, are memorable, danceable and instantly accessible whilst still retaining much depth for those who want to glean more from their music. Dan’s stunning vocals and soaring guitar are underpinned with a pulsing rhythm section from drum phenomenon Joe Sansome and formidable bassist Jonny Finnis.
In the last year they have released two singles which have had regional, National and International airplay and the videos were listed on Q TV. They have recorded a phenomenal album with producer Yoad Nevo (Goldfrapp, Duran Duran, Sugababes, Pet Shop Boys) which will be released later this year. Their cinematic sound lends itself well to synchronisation and a track has just appeared in a major feature film starring Vanessa Redgrave and Christopher Ecclestone.
This Summer they have a full festival diary including headlining The Rabbit Hole stage at Glastonbury.
In the last year they have had several high profile support slots and have just returned from a tour of The Alps with The Feeling playing The Momentum Ski Festival and Liverpool Sound City and last Summer they played the main stage at a number of festivals and were selected to headline the new music stage at the Matthew St Festival in Liverpool as a result of blowing everyone away at The Cavern in Liverpool.

Too Late
These Reigning Days Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Apparent from the start
I should have kissed you
And buried your broken heart
And so it is
The fairy tale begins
I’m not like you. I should have buried your lies and sins
It’s too late for a wedding
And it’s a long way home
It’s a long way home
I’m still dreading the tears in her eyes
The tears in her eyes.
Set sail for the sunrise and I’ll meet her again
I’ll be with her again
It’ll do for the meantime.
It’ll do for the meantime.
And so it is
The bride and groom set sail
Man overboard, an ending to his tail.
It’s too late for a wedding
And it’s a long way home
It’s a long way home
I’m still dreading the tears in her eyes
The tears in her eyes.
Set sail for the sunrise and I’ll meet her again
I’ll be with her again
It’ll do for the meantime.
It’ll do for the meantime.
The lyrics to "Too Late" by These Reigning Days appear to tell the story of a person who realizes they should have acted differently in a past relationship. The opening lines suggest that this realization wasn't made until after the relationship ended, with the singer feeling like they should have kissed their partner and helped them heal from past hurts. The next lines continue to highlight the differences between the two people, suggesting that perhaps the singer was too honest or forthright for the other person at the time.
The chorus of "Too Late" seems to suggest that the relationship is over for good; that it's too late for any sort of hopeful, romantic gesture like a wedding. The line "It's a long way home" evokes a sense of melancholy and isolation, as if the singer feels like they're far away from the life they wish they had. However, the next part of the chorus suggests that the singer is still thinking about their ex-partner and the pain they may be feeling.
The final lines of the song signal a change. The singer talks of sailing away toward the sunrise, suggesting that they're leaving their old life behind and looking for a new beginning. However, there's still a sense of sadness and uncertainty; the phrase "It'll do for the meantime" suggests that the singer is settling for something less than ideal, which may not be a long-term solution. Overall, "Too Late" seems to be a reflection on past mistakes and missed opportunities, mixed with a longing for a different kind of life.
