Stables has been turning heads in all the right places since 2003: a first album Krülle Bol produced by John Parish , singles (Two Wooden Spoons) released by Rob da Bank’s label Sunday Best and a long-awaited second album on Dreamboat Records in 2010. Wriggle out the Restless was born out of a new, slower way of working. Gestated over a long period the album has drawn on This Is The Kit’s many musical friends (Rozi Plain [[label]Fence ], Jim Barr [of Portishead ] Francois [Fence] and The Liftmen [[label]Twisted Nerve]) to fill out their delicate music into a full, robust sound. “The aim was to have fun playing with people who’s work I really like” says Kate “the more you exchange and share with people the better things get and the more you learn.”
This Is The Kit perform regularly as a two-piece with Stables on vocals, guitar and banjo, and Vernon on violin, guitar, bass and percussion.

This great weight I miss, flattening
And it's breaking you up
All your frequencies shattered in
It's the same when you're falling asleep
And the same when it wakes you back up again
Higher pitched than you know how to hear
And you can't find the source where it's coming from
This is what you get
This is what you did
This is what they want
Why are you still here?
This is what they said
This is what you get
This is what you did
This is what they want
Why are you still here?
This is what they said
This is what you get
This is
Do you feel it
The same as you used to?
Is it digging you down
Does it pile up to bury you?
Better try to get out, get outside
And your limbs, they get out of your head again
And the soil you can taste in your mouth
But the water might wake you back up again
This is what you get
This is what you did
This is what they want
Why are you still here?
This is what they said
This is what you get
This is what you did
This is what they want
Why are you still here?
This is what they said
This is what you get
This is
Better try to get out, get outside
And your limbs, they get out of your head again
And the problem stays same as before
Comes around again, pretty repetitive
This is what you get
This is what you did
This is what they want
Why are you still here?
This is what they said
This is what you get
This is what you did
This is what they want
Why are you still here?
This is what they said
This is what you get

The lyrics of This Is the Kit's song "This is what you did" are both abstract and ambiguous, as they seem to describe a sense of unease, fear, or anxiety that permeates throughout the themes of the song. The opening lines of the song appear to depict a suffocating feeling that causes the singer to feel trapped and unable to locate the source of this sensation that is "higher pitched than you know how to hear", and its persistence disrupts their sleep as well. The subsequent verse describes a sense of being buried or pulled down, which prompts the singer to venture outside to break the cycle, but the problem resurfaces nonstop, in a loop of frustration.
Overall, the song's lyrics suggest that the singer is struggling to shake off the negative impacts of their past actions and desires to move on from their current circumstances, shaped and influenced by both external and internal factors.

Between the healthy relationship I've been building with my mental health, and my challenging relationship with my body (recently underwent shoulder surgery due to years of overstrain at work and not holding my boundaries); this song couldn't have reached me at a better time.
Let's just say I teared up when I heard this song.

Just heard this on the radio coming home from work and was delighted and intrigued. This is probably the most refreshing music I've heard in the last couple of years. I'm gonna look into the Kit!
