Snow
This Town Going Under Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It starts with snow
Covering all that we know
Peace returns to this world below
Peace returns

Why sleep, through the winter
Are you afraid of living through the danger?
Let it snow
Let it hide our footsteps
Erasing the paths we've chosen
Forgetting the vices for which we've fallen

If only the sun could lie
And the snow never melt

Snow, freezing, burning my skin but healing the ground,
Calming it down, sleep, at last, rest for the months to come

Can you feel it? Can you feel it? Can you feel it?
Cold, it takes your breath away, freezing life around,
Stopping the time for a minute when the sun hides
When the sun will hide

Let it snow
Let it hide our footsteps
Erasing the paths we've chosen
Forgetting the vices for which we've fallen

If only the sun could lie
And the snow never melt

Overall Meaning

In "Snow," This Town Going Under paints a picture of winter's arrival, highlighting its ability to provide a respite from life's chaos. The cold snow serves as a healing blanket that blankets the ground, providing a reprieve from the choices we've made in life. This "white blanket" of snowfall erases everything, leaving the only peace and calmness beneath it. The artist urges us not to "sleep through the winter" but instead confront our fears and face the dangers.

The artist continues to describe the harshness of the snow, the way it's so cold, it takes your breath away. However, it simultaneously provides a calming effect on everything around it, giving it a sense of peace and rest. With the snow, we have an opportunity to forget all the past wrongs we've done and start afresh. The artist also wishes that the snow never melts, allowing us to live within winter's calm and healing embrace forever.

My 4th Graders performed this song today for their holiday concert.❤🎉

They did at our school too. I was there for my grandkids, but I didn't have any kiddos singing that song. However, I had never heard this song and absolutely loved it. I hope your audience loved it as much. Now I'm looking it up on YouTube to hear it again. Lol
