Europa And The Pirate Twins
Thomas Dolby Lyrics

I was fourteen
She was twelve
Father traveled, hers as well, Europa
Down the beaches, hand in hand
Twelfth of never on the sand
Then war took her away
We swore a vow that day:

We'll be the Pirate Twins again, Europa
Oh my country, Europa
I'll stand beside you in the rain, Europa
Ta république, Europa

Nine years after
Who'd I see on the cover of a magazine?
Europa
Buy her singles and see all her films
Paste her pictures on my windowsill
But that's not quite the same, it isn't, is it?
Europa my old friend

We'll be the Pirate Twins again, Europa
Oh my country, Europa
I'll walk beside you in the rain, Europa
Ta république, Europa

Blew in from the hoverport
She was back in London
Pushed past the papermen
Calling her name

She smiled for the cameras
As a bodyguard grabbed me
Her eyes were gone forever as they drove her away

We'll be the Pirate Twins again, Europa
Oh my country, Europa
I'll walk beside you in the rain, Europa
Ta république, Europa
Down in some bar along the Seine, Europa
Oh my country, Europa
I'll walk beside you in the rain, Europa
Ta république, Europa

@Tim Briley That album was different than his other albums yeah I did not like Aliens Ate My Buick

Tim Briley

Only thing better is Aliens Ate My Buick, especially Budapest by Blimp! Dolby...enough said.

Donald Hutchinson

@royal nass Not originally, but they were inserted later. At least "She Blinded Me With Science" was.

royal nass

she blinded me with science & one of our submarines is not on that album

SaxonThrashQueen

@royal nass Because he endorses "sexual transitioning" despite the fact that he's all"science" like wtf?

The Golden Age Of Wireless is a PERFECT album, a masterpiece. Why Thomas wasn’t huge is a complete mystery to me

Wargasm54

He was

John St John

It was one of those albums where the "hit" was one of the weaker songs from the collection.

TD probably would have been bigger - for a short period - if he would have continued to make the same songs over and over.
By the time GAoW came out (Having toured with and written "New Toy" for Lena Lovitch) he was probably over it and he began to create lush songs like "The Good Earth" or "Dissidents".

Tim Briley

Well you know well, he was the shit through out the 1980's. Only us clued in back in the day could relate. Oh what, Wind Power is playing over Headphones, gotta get my groove on. Damn the flute hit me hard.
