Je ramasse un rameau,
Je le jette dans l'eau
Et je le regarde.
Je crache d'en haut,
Je crache dans l'eau
Et le fleuve m'emmène
Vers le Havre
Pense tout haut
Que je devrais être à l'école.
Cela n'est pas faux,
Mais il fait beau
Et le tableau noir me désole.
Le tourniquet
Ne m'a pas vu passer
Je ramasse un ticket,
Je file.
Et sur le quai,
Libre d'un vase cassé
Fuit un joli bouquet
De filles.
La solitude
Me fait marcher,
Elle a un humour impossible.
Elle fait trembler
Le petit archer,
À chaque fois il rate sa cible.
Qu'on soit âgé
Ou bien jeune usager,
On regarde ses pieds,
Pensif.
Le ciel est bleu,
Le train remue sa queue,
On se bouscule un peu :
"Passy".
On saute la Seine,
C'est un ruisseau
D'un coup de rame de métro.
Le pont Bir-Hakeim
Se reflète en ciseaux
Sur le fil de l'eau.
Seulent en terrasses,
Les feuilles mortes s'entassent
Sur quelques chaises
Oubliées.
Et sur les places,
Les fontaines Wallace
Attendent l'été,
Désoeuvrées.
Comment trouver
Une chaussure à mon pied ?
Je ramasse une gifle
Quand je siffle.
Je fais le beau,
Je tourne autour du pot
Et mes phrases tombent à l'eau,
Poncifs.
Comment trouver
Une chaussure à mon pied ?
Je vais chez le fripier,
Je m'habille.
Je suis élégant,
Qui dirait que ces gants
Sont de deuxième main
De fille ?
Une inconnue
Semble perdue,
Elle cherche sa rue dans la mienne.
À première vue,
Elle m'avait plu mais
Elle entre dans les vespasiennes.
Dans mes foulées
Pèse le jour écoulé.
Ma vigueur, au couchant,
Décline
Avec le chant
D'un clochard affalé
Sur le banc de l'allée
Des cygnes
The song "Pont Mirabeau" by Thomas Fersen paints a picture of a nostalgic promenade along the Seine River in Paris, France. The first verse of the song describes a person standing on the Pont Mirabeau bridge, picking up a branch and throwing it in the water, while spitting into the river. The river takes them to the Havre, a coastal city in the northwest of France. Meanwhile, an old crow suggests that the person should be in school. However, the beautiful weather and the prospect of blackboards dismay the person.
In the second verse, the person continues their journey, passing by a ticket booth and a group of girls on the platform. Solitude accompanies them, and they humorously mention that it makes Cupid miss his shots. They observe that people, regardless of age or experience, tend to stare at their feet while thinking. They cross the Seine by metro, pass under the Bir-Hakeim bridge and reach a scene of autumnal decay, where forgotten chairs accumulate leaves.
The third verse is introspective, as the person wonders how they can find suitable shoes like-minded people. They are slapped when they whistle after a woman, then they attempt to impress her with cliché phrases, which fall flat. Their next idea is to visit a second-hand store to find elegant clothing, which they hope will disguise the reality that they belong to someone else. Eventually, they meet a woman who seems lost and then continues on with their walk, noting the decline of their energy as the day comes to an end, with the sound of a homeless person singing on a bench near a swan alley.

A stranger
Semble perdue,
Seems lost
Elle cherche sa rue dans la mienne.
She looks for her street within mine.
À première vue,
At first glance,
Elle m'avait plu mais
I found her attractive, but
Elle entre dans les vespasiennes.
She enters the public restrooms.
Dans mes foulées
In my strides
Pèse le jour écoulé.
Weighs the passing day.
Ma vigueur, au couchant,
My strength, as the sun sets,
Décline
Diminishes
Avec le chant
With the song
D'un clochard affalé
Of a slumped-over hobo
Sur le banc de l'allée
On the bench by the alley
Des cygnes
Of the swans.
