The lyrics of the song "Tout tout tout et plus rien" by Thomas Fersen is a recount of a romantic story fraught with anguish and desperation with a tinge of humour. The song's protagonist is a couple, Martha and the singer, who was caught up in an intense moment of passion in a barn that they failed to take cognizance of their environment, which was going up in flames caused by the fire they lit. The description of Martha's visit to the barn and the scent that fills the barn helps to paint the scenery of the environment. However, the passion between the couple has made them oblivious of everything around them.
The lyrics can also be interpreted to portray the all-consuming nature of love, how it can render a person hopeless and desperate. Despite the upheavals around them, the couple can only focus on themselves, their love, and the moment they shared. The fire and the flood that razed their environment did not matter to them, for they have everything they needed. Their love burns down everything like fire, and the rain that is meant to provide relief floods their region. The song, in general, portrays the paradoxical nature of love, how it can be both beautiful and destructive.
